Food + Farewells

Foodblog-5849

Hi there!!! Mom requested whipped banana oatmeal twice during her stay, and I have to say I have missed it! Good old creamy oatmeal topped with some Naturebox granola and drippy 365 almond butter.

Foodblog-5848

I ran to the gym for a training session with Erin while G+P hung out with Mazen one final morning. I’m sad we didn’t get any photos of them together. After showers all around, we headed over to the bakery for lunch.

I had a big salad topped with lots of things that Matt threw in for me – jalapenos, special cheese, ham, curried tuna. Plus a small piece of Pesto Parm on the side, and a cookie bite for dessert!

I have a few meals that got stuck on my camera – the first was lunch at Sarah’s house! We wanted to get our moms together, and it was easier with a newborn to do lunch in at her place than go out or to our house, so we ended up bringing in a pizza and making a big salad.

Delicious and great company! Until the Sayas started to fight over plastic cake slices that is ; )

Foodblog-5830

Another missed meal to share – date night at Maya! Matt and I went out on Monday night and had trouble finding a place that was open. I dunked my foot into 4 inches of frozen slush while getting out of the car, and it seemed like everything on West Main St. was closed – except Maya. A wonderful blessing because I had forgotten how much I love it there! We had a jolly server and a great meal.

Pimento cheese fritters!! OMG.

Foodblog-5831

I had a Bibb lettuce salad with smoked trout, candied nuts, a dill dressing and croutons plus a side of white cheddar butternut squash casserole – sooooo rich and savory! Matt had ribs, cauliflower and biscuits.

Foodblog-5837

And This.Drink. Called Smokey the Bee it had an applewood smoked salt rim, honey whiskey and soda.

There’s a rumor that more snow is on the way here. Hope it’s hot and sunny where you live.

Just imagining this…

That pizza looks like heaven and so does the oatmeal.
Ive been having oatmeal every morning for the past week or so, I ‘spice it up’ with various topping including nut butter. Yummy stuff.

I wish it was sunny and hot here (in Colorado) but we are getting more snow today. I won’t complain though, Boston has had it way worse!

The whipped banana oats sound amazing….I looked up the recipe in your archives and have 2 questions:
    1. Is the recipe for 2 servings?? (the first instruction step says “for 2 servings” but 1/3 cup of oats, as stated in the ingredients list seems small for 2…I just want to clarify)
    2. When do you add the chia seeds??

    Thanks!

      Hi Jamie,

The recipe at the top of this page is the recipe for ONE serving – 1/3 cup of oats. I used to have it for two (and I think it’s 2 in the video) but I updated it so it’s easier to read for one.

Why Great Harvest doesn’t have real dishes for the customers? I know it is commun in USA to serve food in plastic, but maybe you could try to be more ecologic at the bakery? Or a least the co-owners could keep dishes for when they eat there 🙂
