Floored

I’ve been all over the place this morning!

  • Two banks (biz, personal)
  • Notary
  • Harris Teeter
  • Bed, Bath, Beyond
  • Kinkos

Then I cleaned my floors using this new botanical green cleaning product by Aussan Naturals (coming soon to an OpenSky promotion near you) that I REALLLLLY liked!!! Also, a new Real Simple mop from BB&B! Worked really well.

 IMG_2413BlogIMG_2417Blog

My friend Meg sent me a lightbulb in the mail

IMG_2418Blog

That was really some of her Maple Nut Granola as a thank you for helping her tweak a few blog things.

IMG_2419Blog

She’s been telling me about this stuff and slam-dunk-wow she was right!!! Questionably the best homemade granola ever? It totally trumps my Maple Pecan Granola. (But not the Crunchy Buckwheat Granola cause that’s so different 🙂 )

IMG_2420Blog

I put it all through my lunch!

IMG_2424Blog

Plain yogurt, strawbs, granola

IMG_2423Blog

Plus a simple salad from the 2 veggies I picked up at HT

IMG_2431Blog

Spinach, carrot, pepper, honey, lavender salt and a few Lemon Rosemary Biscotti as croutons!

IMG_2425Blog

A simple lunch, but colorful and delicious.

IMG_2430Blog

I need to quickly glam myself up because I’m going to a photoshoot this afternoon (for a local photographer’s series on Cville peeps!) and then I might be crazy and go to the gym (thereby dirtying myself up for another shower).

Or maybe not..

EEEEeeeeeEEEeeeeeee! I am so scared to mop my wood floors. I’ve heard so many things pro and con for mopping wood floors, especially if they are older and you don’t know if they’ve been sealed/waxed recently (how they soak up the moisture and you need to wick it away immediately so the planks don’t swell, etc). Our house has the original wood floors from the 40s, but since we’re renting, I’d hate to ruin them. Maybe this is what I need to clean then…

There are plenty of days when I take 2 showers per day — I sweat like a beast when I work out so there is no way I could skip my evening shower.

    I want that mop!

Have you considered using the Shark Steam Mop? Now they have a Steam/Vac and it’s AMAZZZZZZZZING! All you use is a little electricity and water. Pays for itself in no time! I think the vac/steam mop runs at $149 (or $119 with the 20% off BB&B coupon) and just the steam mop goes for $69 ($55.20 with 20% off BB&B coupon).

I swear by it! In fact, they kept selling out at my local BB&B but luckily when I visited my dad they had some at his store. I wanted to test-drive it to make sure it worked so I used it on his floors and he was amazed by it so much that the following week he purchased one! The reason I mentioned this is the floor dries immediately after going over it with the steam mop.

I always used a regular mop and thought I was getting my floors clean. When I borrowed the steam mop from a co-worker she told me to mop my floors like I normally do, then go over it with the steam mop. I was so embarassed with how dirty the floor actually were. The pads were black..even after mopping with the regular mop!! It was gross.

They have a few brands out there, but I can’t give my opinions on them as I’ve never used them but would assume they would work the same way.

You’ll have to check with your local BB&B but mine has a 30 day return policy. I have the Vac-Then-Steam and it’s great bc I don’t have to sweep, but I’ve also used the regular steam mop and it does good too! Not sure if you have a Wal-Mart or even want to support Wal-Mart but my co-worker bought hers there and she paid $79 and it came with the mini steamer, too!

Add mine, too. I have the HAAN steam floor cleaner, and it does a great job on my 1920 hardwood floors…maple in the kitchen and oak throughout the rest of the house. I paid $79 at my local vacuum cleaner store.

They really are easy to use and you just put the pad into the washing machine. The steam also kills any bacteria, and sure gets alot more dirt than just washing. As a test, I mopped and then Sharked and the Shark got even more after just mopping. But don’t throw your nifty new mop out just yet, that can be very useful for a quick spot clean up or for another area of your house that might not be convenient to Shark(when you move to another larger home).

I have been in the market for a new mop, I will check this one out! I need to refresh on your floor cleaning series. We have large ceramic tiles in our kitchen, and the grout gets seriously dirty. I’ve read that you can sort of flood the grout with an oxi-clean mixture, but I need something more powerful that the swiffer wet jet to mop it back up. I think I would go over the whole thing with a white vinegar solution at the end, because that’s how I take residue off everything!

You constantly use the phrase “real food”. I’ve never really thought much of it until i tried a frozen meal from a popular weight-loss company today. I looked at it as i was chewing it…total lightbulb moment-this stuff is NOT real food. I have a feeling a cookie made with wholesome ingredients would be better for me than all the fake flavor/chemicals found in that frozen meal. YAY for real food!!

Here you’ll find a healthy mix of real-life meals made from whole ingredients balanced with the pleasures of life, including buttercream frosting and good wine. Plus a sprinkle of nutrition, home life, beauty, parenting, and travel.
