Field Trip

I had so much fun on my field trip from the bakery!!!

I headed up to the gym for Body Pump!! It was weird to be back, and even though it’s Saturday, I felt like I was playing hooky! Luckily the bakery is just a mile or so from the gym!

IMG_1094 (427x640)

Also luckily, I didn’t seem to lose any strength! I was on my usual weights and had a good class.

My gym doesn’t offer towel service, but you can pay $2 per towel use. I arranged my account so that I can charge towels to it, and that has made SUCH a difference in being able to shower there! So long as I don’t use one more than once a week or so, I’m fine with the extra cost for the convenience it saves – especially now that I’m working a lot more.

Showered + clean!

IMG_1095 (427x640)

I wanted to go Farmer’s marketing, but I had my bike and the bakery to return to.

IMG_1097 (640x427)

I had plans to go to the Blue Ridge Country Store for lunch where there is a great BYO salad bar but it is CLOSED on the weekends!!!

Instead I got hot walking to the other end of the mall to go to Rev Soup for the Gulf Salad – greens, egg + shrimp!

IMG_1103 (640x427)

The base salad was good, but I made it better with GH peppers, tomatoes, extra lettuce, pickle and a hunk of Apple Crunch. I like BIG salads!

I’m back at work and very thankful for the break. Workouts are such an important me time for me – I hope I can have more breaks next week.

See ya!

I also love BIG salads…whole head of romaine…and I love body pump, new to it, but feel so good when I am finished, plus I continue to burn calories for hours w/ lifting weights.

Big salads are the way to go! It’s great that your gym is so close to the bakery, that will be especially handy in winter time.

        Oh – that’s sad 🙁

Does Matt take a “work-out” break during the day as well? Is your gym a chain-gym – I’m assuming if it has Body Pump?…and, uh, do you have to dry your hair?? – I am SO jealous how it comes out soft and not frizzy!!( not like mine – sucks).

I had a hugh jass salad for lunch today, too! They’re my favorite. There’s something so satisfying about picking your way through a whole bunch of textures and flavors. No two bites are exactly the same! I love working out between breakfast and lunch, too; its the best part about summer vacation for me.

Oh, and I was just plugging my food into my calorie counter (trying to gain weight is too hard!) and did a double-take when I saw your face on one of the ads! Hah, I was so surprised and excited that I knew who you were; I made a print screen! http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt203/HorseGirl8161/Kath.jpg?1307816991

Isn’t it ridiculous when gyms dont offer towels?! I understand it saves them money on washing expenses and what not..but dang! I was spoiled by my old gym that offered towels (even shower ones) and then switched over to my current gym which it took me a few days to finally start remembering to bring towels along because they don’t have any. I still forget every now and then!

There is a time to save money and be frugal and a time to know when to spend it. And spending it on clean towels is a GREAT use of funds after a gym session. Oh yes, you NEED to be able to shower at the gym when you want to 🙂

I use a travel/camping towel at the gym when I’m on my bike (similar to those quick dry hair towels). They’re small but work really well and dry quickly and take up very little space in my pannier bag. Highly recommended!

Even if you just had regular towels, put the wet towels in a plastic bag until you get to the bakery and put them on a towel rack to dry in the back room. Maybe after a while you can even get a small apartment dryer at the bakery–$2 per towel once a week is over $100 per year! Even if you don’t want towels drying in the bakery, keep them in a bag until you get home and just have a larger supply of towels to work with until laundry time. You can justify purchasing more towels by the savings of using less energy to heat your water and the water itself at home vs. showering at the gym and electricity for the hair dryer.

Can you adjust the original recipes Great Harvest has or do you have to follow it? I looked up the Savannah Bar thing just because you said it’s not “lite” and I was curious. It’s amazing that it has 50 g of sugar, that’s a lot! It’s probably more from honey and the fruit?
