Fall Into Summer

IMG_0753

I was freezing last night – with no AC on! Just two fans and chilly overnight temps outside. Such a contrast to last week – and what’s to come!

IMG_0761

Thus, my cold breakfast was not totally fitting – I’m still wearing a sweater : ) BUT that zucchini bread over yogurt was on my mind.

IMG_0754-2

I couldn’t decide between the two flavors, but I think I decided the cinnamony one is my fav. I mixed crumbled pieces (a small slice of each flavor) with peach and blueberries over plain greek yogurt – plus a spoonful of PB.

IMG_0744-2

IMG_0755-2

I had a little coffee leftover yesterday so I saved it in a jar and added equal parts milk to it this morning for a latte of sorts. I’ve grown to like my coffee black, but this milky version tasted pretty good! I’ll tell you one thing – I do NOT like sugar in my coffee anymore. I think it totally ruins the taste! That’s pure palate training there because I used to drink it with sugar or Splenda back in the day.

IMG_0749-2

Today = an adventure!!

I wish it was freezing here. High of 102 today with a heat index of 110-115. Your breakfast looks delicious, great combination of flavors and textures. Enjoy your adventure!

I’m the same with my coffee- I used to add so much Splenda and now I can only imagine it drinking it with milk…the sweetness interferes with the coffee flavor!

Oh, that is the way I love my breakfast! Fruit, Greek yogurt and something crunchy (usually almonds)! This morning, I broiled blueberries, 1/2 banana, pineapple chunks, sprinkled it with roasted cinnamon and almonds, and then topped it w/ a dollop of Greek yogurt! My new favorite way to eat breakfast!

It is chilly here too this morning. Waiting for it to warm up so I can go to the pool for a workout. 100+ temps are due (in Charlotte) this weekend, so I guess I better enjoy the cooler weather now.

I wish I could trade with you. I’m stuck in Florida in the tropical storm, along with a broken AC for the past week in the crazy heat & humidity. We’ve been staying at KMFT’s parents’ house so we can steal their AC. =]

I reallllllly want some of that lemon zucchini bread. Mmmmnomz! I think I’ll have to make some. I love quick breads.

You would think the rain would help out with the heat a little bit… But no. It’s fine while it’s raining, but in between the torrential downpours (yay Florida!), there’s endless amounts of sunshine and heat… And that, mixed with the humidity from the rain? Let’s just say I haven’t actually DONE my hair in a week. Ponytail all the way.

I wish it were cooler in Arizona! I think Phoenix was about 110 yesterday and even living in northern Arizona it was around 95! I think we’ve had our AC running constantly for about a month already, which isn’t fun since I rather just get the fresh air!
I agree that loving black coffee is a acquired taste. I used to love mine loaded with sugar and half anf half, but now just drink it black most days!

Oh gosh – I hope I can like coffee without sugar one day. I’m trying to ween myself off of using one packet of splenda and it is HARD! Real sugar is just not as sweet and doesn’t do it for me. I can’t imagine no sweetness at all!

I used to have my coffee with 6 tsp of sugar in it. And with loads of cream. So essentially… it was pure syrup!
Now I have it once in a blue moon and I have it black!
It took me at least 5 years to wean myself off.

My favorite zucc bread recipe has a generous dose of cinnamon and either lemon or lime zest (depending on what we have on hand). My MIL gave us the recipe — very flavorful and usually bakes up with a creamy, almost custard-like texture.

Great minds think alike! Yesterday afternoon I needed a little pick-me-up so I brewed a quart-size pot of Chai tea. At the end of the evening, not wanting to waste the remaining tea, I poured it in a glass, covered, and then enjoyed with a splash of milk and sugar (and 2 ice cubes) this morning. What a treat. After pregnancy, it was back to sugar again. And these days, it’s just milk! My poor husband never knows what to put in my coffee for me if he gets it ready for me.
