Extra Hour To Recover

Blarg – I am definitely feeling the effects of last night’s indulgences. I went to bed SO FULL. You know, it doesn’t matter if I am able to maintain my weight by pigging out every now and then, eating habits for health are more important than weight and I need to learn not to overeat to the point of feeling sick and uncomfortable for the sake of being nice to my body.

We slept until 9….er…..8 this morning and I’ve been working on my humongous to-do list ever since. But I did break for a nice breakfast.

1/3 cup oats, milk, water

1/2 large banana

Salt, vanilla

1 tbsp ground flax

2 tbsp wheatberries

1 tbsp raisins

1/3 crumbled Honest Foods Country Square Chocolate Brownie

Spoonful Butter Toffee PB

Yum!

Plus some java juice –

The lighting is so pretty in our house today!

Second to “Study Organic Chemistry” on my to-do list is to do the weekly meal plan and grocery shopping today. This time it’s going to include some grocery store deals and specials research to see what’s on sale before I think about recipes. Hopefully I won’t have to go to too many stores! We do have some food in stock like apples, pears, yogurt and milk, so I don’t think I’ll need to buy much other than a protein or two and some vegetables for sure. I’m aiming for $26 for the next 3 weeks and then ~$50 for  Thanksgiving prep.

I also hope to get in a run today – but not until I feel the urge.

Soak up the last bits of the weekend today!

Hope you get to you to-do list items today! Hope your weather is as good as ours – 65 degrees right now!

    I beat you though – I slept in until 9:30 (8:30!)

    Have a fun Sunday!

Kath – there was a comment about couponmom.com a few posts ago, so I went to the site to check it out. I agree that it’s too busy, but if you go to grocery coupons in the left sidebar, then click the top link on the page ($100 of free coupons) you can print off some really good stuff.

Oats & Coffee= the perfect thing to settle any leftover icky feelings!
Great luck with your list- I think your ‘challenge’ is really impressive, will probably take a bit of planning, but will be totally worth it in the end.

Sorry that you aren’t feeling well! I hate when I do that to myself too. Try not to be so hard on yourself though, just keep your chin up and keep going! Oh and I am convinced a run will ALWAYS make everything seem much better. 😀

    Morning!
It seems like you had a fun time last night with you husband and friends! As you said it’s ok to indulge once in a while 🙂 and it seems like you have that balance!! For me, I need to cap it off with 3 glasses of wine or else I know I will have to prepare for some ill feelings the next day. Also, for me it helps to have full portions of a desert rather than pieces…if I start with pieces I end up having another piece and another and b/f I realize it I’ve had way more than the serving I had intended on eating.. Life it short gotta enjoy the simple things in life. I am a Nutritionist as well and sometimes it’s difficult for me not to scold myself when I feel like I should “know better” The key is to nurture yourself today and not punish yourself. Lots of hydration and healthy foods to maintain that balance!!

Kath, I’m so excited to see how this grocery/food challenge pans out. As a college student, I need to be careful and not spend so much on groceries (I’ve spent $70 for one week before- eek!), so your ideas will serve as a great guideline. You’re such an awesome example to follow- thanks!

Best of luck shopping… I’m looking forward to see the results!

Also, a question: does the salt in the oats make that big a difference? I’ve never done it, and I eat oats a lot…

Oh man, I know what you mean about overeating to the point where you feel sick! I don’t drink much, but I DO get food hangovers regularly, esp when there are chips and /or chocolates involved!
Hope your run makes you feel better!

    emmy ,
Thanks for pointing that out. I did find lots of coupons, but not anything we needed. There aren’t many coupons for fresh produce and meat!

    steph
    Thanks for the advice 🙂

    Mara ,
The salt doesn’t make a big difference. You can’t even really taste it. But whenever I forget to put it in, the oats taste So bland!

Know what ya mean about overindulging – I do it sometimes (never to excess), but it doesn’t affect my weight. It still bugs me though simply because I know it’s not good for me, nor do I feel like myself afterwards. Oh well!
