Exciting + Quick

Lots of excitement today! A few things I can share now, and one I’ll share in a week or so! BIG news!

(And I’m not signing a book deal, going on a fabulous trip or pregnant…since I know minds are wondering!)

First good news – our accountant says we’re doing our bookkeeping very well (and doing really well!) Woot.

The second fabulous thing that happened – a slice of Apple Crunch with nut butter during my afternoon meetings. Also had a few clusters. Hunger satisfied.

IMG_5864-2Blog

And the third…I called AT&T to see if I could sweet talk them into prematurely approving me for a phone upgrade…since I’m a loyal customer and all…and they said YES! Like, without even a second thought – “Sure we’ll let you upgrade today.”

I practically FLEW to the AT&T store to get…the Samsung Infuse! Matt and I are phone twins (and have pink + blue cases because they were 50% off and while pink is not my favorite color, I couldn’t turn down a deal..) I considered the HTC Inspire because I really like HTC phones, but after reading some reviews, it just couldn’t keep up with this guy.

IMG_5867-2Blog

BIG SCREEN!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve been wanting one since I got my HTC Aria. Small phones may seem appealing at first, but the screen size is NOT ideal for a blogger! NICE camera!!! Better features!

Old vs. new

PhonesBlog

Which would you rather read blogs on!?

IMG_5871-2Blog

Very very happy with the purchase, although I’m still getting used to the phone and its differences.

Dinner tonight was a quickie because I have lots to do to prepare my phone, self and suitcase for my trip tomorrow. Healthy Living Summit round 3!!

Dinner-5Blog

We whipped up this dinner in under 10 minutes! And made it up on the spot.

Quickie Sauté:

  • 1 eggplant, cubed and sautéed in coconut oil
  • A handful of garden tomatoes, sliced and thrown into sauté with a few minutes left
  • 1/4 cup Pumpkin Chipotle pesto
  • Goat feta crumbles
  • Egg on top!
  • Smoked salt from Whole Foods

IMG_5866-2BlogIMG_5876-2BlogIMG_5883-2BlogIMG_5865-2Blog

And a Oreo Truffle for dessert!

Oreo-2Blog

Have a great night friends!

Congrats on the books. Trust me, I know that is a great thing! Our business is a lot smaller than yours and easier on the books, but I still wait on pins and needles to see if I balanced everything ok. Dinner looks delicious. I love a fried egg on my veggies! YUM! Have a great night Kath.

What is the news?? To do with the bakery…I’m so bad with “surprises”.

On another note – is that an iphone? What do you – or readers – recommend for a good phone. I use mine a lot for work – texting, checking email, etc. – I have an upgrade eligible but don’t want to get something over the top or too expensive. Too much technology is draining….I want to like sit on an island in Hawaii somewhere and just breathe in life.

    😉

those are the 3 things that people always ask me too if i say i have news and dont talk about it. so now i disclaim myself with that, too.. haha!

Congrats on nailing the bookkeeping. It’s not easy just being in business and doing the food/cooking/retail side of things….the behind the scenes, finances, numbers, etc..that’s a whole other animal. Glad you’re all over!

Actually AT&T ususally (like 99% of the time) lets you upgrade up to 6 months early if you have a two year plan. So you can pretty much always get an upgrade after a year and a half.

From what I hear, At&T is losing a lot of business to Verizon and customer service is under strict instructions not to lose any more business. If a customer wants an upgrade, they get one (ya know – as long as it isn’t every week).

Good choice on not getting the HTC Inspire. I switched from an IPhone to the HTC Inspire. I have to say that I hate the Inspire!! Sound is horrible, it freezes up, texting is difficult and now it seems to be making random calls. In September I was going back to an IPhone, but now maybe I’ll consider the Samsung. I have had Samsungs in the past and always liked them.

Ever since seeing you use smoked salt here on KERF I knew I needed to try it. Then, I went to my TJ’s about a month ago and there it was … I was so excited to try it. …and it did not dissappoint. I must say, my favorite use so far has been on grilled corn. I’ve been spraying them with a bit of canola cooking spray and sprinkling with smoked salt, garlic powder, red pepper flakes and pepper. Yum yum.

I have until Jan. for an upgrade. 🙁 The person I spoke to was very convinced that it would be never be done so I didn’t push too hard – although I mentioned I had a friend who got a new Samsung phone upgrade! She said, not possible – hah. I’ve had AT&T for years – my family is the most loyal customers (my dad works for them) but maybe we are so loyal they figure we won’t go anywhere. Apple offered to sell me a “new” iphone for $199 – how nice 🙂 But they won’t do any tech support without a phone contract for $30 bucks. Guess I’m just stuck with a wonky charging iphone for another couple of months!

I want to try that with T-Mobile. I’ve had terrible customer service with them, which I find funny because they are supposedly rated #1 in customer service.

Good point about getting a larger phone for better blog reading. I always think smaller is better but you bring up such a great point…it should have been obvious to me but in the blogging sense, bigger is definitely better! I will keep that in mind when my time is up to renew! 🙂

My phone is so old and outdated (like I don’t even have a smart phone, aps, or internet access). I will be calling AT&T tomorrow!

I totally agree with your phone philosophy… I have a horribly small screen on my phone and I can’t read blogs on my phone it’s awful! On top of that pictures aren’t real great either… I can’t wait until I upgrade someday!

Question – what do you do with the old phone? I always wonder this – do you give it back to the store to recycle it? Again, as someone who’s never had a smartphone and is using one being held together by tape right now (yes, it’s true) I don’t have too many old phones to get rid of and what’s considered old right now would be new to me. just wondering as I know people upgrade a get new ones all the time. It does look like fun – enjoy!!!

I know you’re in the midst of moving right now but when you get a chance, I wanted to see why you switched from an iPhone to the Droid. I’m deciding between the two. iPhone users seem to be diehards so it’s hard to get a good opinion! Do you like the Droid because of the bigger screen and the google products?

It’s ALL about Gmail and Google everything. It’s amazing. You need to go to a phone store and try one out!!
