Efficiency

My goal this morning was to do everything as efficient as possible to try to save myself 20 minutes to relax with breakfast. I’m not sure how well it worked! There is just SO MUCH I have to do everyday and I’m having a really hard time fitting it all in and giving myself some time to chill out. Every single minute is filled with something to do 🙁 I just have to remember that this double lifestyle (full time blogger + internshiper + house seller) is temporary.

I was slow getting up this morning. On days when I have been to the gym the day before, I am always slow to get up. If I juxtapose a day of running or yoga or rest or something other than the gym, then going to the gym is fun and appealing. I always plan a machine, a fun magazine and weight lifting. It feels fun and balanced. But I have a really hard time looking forward to that routine two days in a row. It just feels imbalanced to me? But alas, I was wide away and had the bodily energy, so I found myself there (15 minutes late!) and managed 45 minutes on the ET plus some lower body lifting. It was actually a pretty good workout!

Home –> showered as efficient as possible –> emailed while coffee brewed –> cleaned up while oats cooked –> 20 minutes of eating relaxation (at least I didn’t have to blog + eat, which is the WORST for food pleasure!). Now I’m rushing to finish this post because I reallllllly need an oil change and wanted to drop my car off before work. Don’t think that’s gonna happen.

So while it was smooshed between hectic things, breakfast was a good one!

Banana Cottage Cheese

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/3 cup cottage cheese, stirred in at end
  • Galaxy Granola
  • Warmed North American Crofter’s
  • Justin’s Maple Almond Butter

At first I was mad because this seemed like less volume than normal, but it did fill me up just as well! I think it was just a shallow bowl illusion.

I MISS THE SUNSHINE I USE TO HAVE FOR BREAKFAST PHOTOS!! Hurry up, Sun

this !
, and rotate so that I can have it back!

I think Mr. Bora Bora is experiencing some brain fog like me!

    A few thoughts:
    1) Gym. I keep my double-gym day routines more “fun” by doing arms one day and legs the other, with some cardio interspersed or interval training. It is more motivating, then, to go because I know I need to do the “other half.”

    2) Breakfast / eating. Interesting, I always thought you blogged while eating. So what DO you like to do while you eat? Think? Read? 🙂

    3) Thank you.

I often do watch TV 🙂 I think the big negative against TV watching is that you don’t eat mindfully. However, I find that when I’m by myself it’s a great way to enjoy a meal like having a conversation with a person and is hands-free – so I do get to enjoy the eating process.

(Working at a computer, however, is so distracting for me that I hate eating while typing)

I hear you – sometimes it just feels like there’s not enough hours in the day!! The extra daylight at night seems to be helping with that “anxiety” I used to feel though. When it was dark out at 5, my brain seemed to think my day was “done” and I’d still have all this stuff left to do. Now that it’s light out for so much longer, I feel like I have more time to do stuff…even though there’s still the same number of hours in a day! It’s weird how it works…I’ll never understand it! 😉

I can totally relate to your frenzy! My mornings are crazy, too. I had to be at the hospital for morning sign-ins this morning by 6:45… and we work 12 hour shifts. Keeping up a blog while actually working full-time (med school/dietician training/etc.)… and selling a house (we are going to do that in the next month, too!!!) is INSANE. I just want to say kudos for your efforts. You do an amazing job… your pics are gorgeous… and you are consistent… which is the most important thing. Good luck today with whatever tasks you have. Either way… the day will come and go… and most of the time… we don’t remember much detail about any one in particular… just try to focus on what’s most enjoyable… and make a happy memory that will stick. That’s all I try to do each day.

Again… you’re doing an awesome job.

The life you are experiencing now–the time crunch, the stress, the almost overwhelming constant busyness–is typical of the average person in the U.S. And it’s the rule, not the exception. I firmly believe that the way we live today is fostering many of the health and weight issues we see.

The human body was not designed to run wide open every waking minute. We are spirits in physical bodies and if we overwhelm the spirit part of us, the physical part will suffer. Many suffer with insomnia– unable to shut down their minds when they go to bed at night because of their crazy day which allowed them no down time for mental relaxation. Sadly, children are suffering with these issues as well.

We have a culture crisis and all the governmental intervention in the world isn’t going to fix our problems. It is up to us as individuals to take charge of our lives and change them…and to be willing to make do with less stuff so we don’t have to work so many hours to pay for it leaving us with more time ‘to be’…more time to gear down and refuel our spirit. I fear too many of us are running on empty.

I’ve been doing this lately and it has been great: when the alarm goes off, I turn it off, and lay in bed for just 2-3 minutes. I think about how I want to start my day: I want to feel productive, in control and energetic! Then when my feet hit the floor, there’s some extra pep in my step!

At least you *will* be getting sun soon! After leaving at the beginning of the Australian summer to travel in the Northern hemisphere winter, I’m now going home just in time to miss the Northern summer and get another winter! Argh! At least it’s optimum weather for oatmeal, though 😛
