EarthFare Eats

I debated packing a lunch vs. going to EarthFare today. It was a really hard decision, but stepping in DOG POOP in my yard while taking out the trash this morning helped me decide. I had no time to pack a lunch as I was cleaning the poop off my kitchen floor (I tracked it all over 🙁 )

We got out of class after only 20 minutes (!!) today and I was |thisclose| to turning around and driving back home so I could get in some Thanksgiving grocery shopping but I decided that it wasn’t worth the gas and I should get some work done in the time (even though I’m about to have 5 day to do 3 projects). So I headed to EarthFare and knocked out my whole Micro outline on Viruses! Sweet!

My friend Laurie met me for lunch and we enjoyed around round of fabulous salads –

Let’s see if I can remember everything (I re-trace my steps around the salad bar when I do these recalls):

  • Spinach/romaineDSC06222
  • Raw mushrooms, squash, broccoli, carrots
  • Kalamata olives
  • Garbanzo beans
  • Garbanzo bean salad
  • Beets
  • 1 piece broccoli salad
  • 4 giant lima bean things
  • Forbidden rice salad (1 tbsp)
  • Wild rice salad (1 tbsp)
  • Butternut squash salad (at right – TO DIE FOR – about 3 tbsp)
  • 2 pineapple cubes
  • The Best Salmon (about 2 tbsp)
  • Some goat cheese crumbles (1 tbsp)
  • Soy nuts (1 tbsp)
  • Vinegar for dressing

Plus my favorite tea!

Holy moly on this morning’s comments!! I can’t believe all the different hometowns!! Thanks to those of you who de-lurked and wrote sweet messages 🙂 The contest is open until midnight tonight.

One more class, then it’s the LONG WEEKEND!

Another awesome bowl of EarthFare goodness!

I so wish I could find that tea in my area!

Bummer about the dog poop – that is one of the worst things ever! I can’t believe there are still people out there that let their dogs poop wherever and not pooper-scoop it up!!

I’m jealous of your frequent earthfare visits. I enjoyed when I was in NC last year. Their salad bar is delicious! The gypsy tea looks wonderful…I’ll have to check it out.

My mother once had to use a toothpick to get the dog poop out of my very finely-treaded (and probably expensive) shoes. Not a happy camper.

What about the rice salad is “forbidden?” Or is that the brand?

People who don’t pick up dog poo make things difficult for responsible dog owners like me!

Your salads are always an amazing mix of goodies. Earth Fare sounds like a fab store. Re: your rubber band arm… I totally get that so-numb-you-can’t-move-it effect sometimes. Crazy that you smacked yourself!

something i have noticed is that earthfare has a way better salad bar then whole foods! I’m jealous.

    Then I have two questions:
What do you try to accomplish workout wise each week? ( like how much cardio and weight training etc.)
And.. How do you plan your grocery shopping since I know you and the husband kind of plan dinner around whats in the kitchen?

    Thanks I love this blog!!!

    angelcubbie ,
We’re cooking kale salad, Great Harvest + chicken sausage dressing, a tri-root veggie “mash”, turkey + gravy and cranberry sauce. My family members are brining corn pudding, oyster pie, sweet potato casserole, creamed onions (ewww!) and pies for dessert. Yum!

    Oh She Glows,
Favorite EarthFare food: EF brand PB! But if you mean on the salad bar: the butternut squash salad, followed by The Best Salmon.

    Kathryn ,
Honestly I’m not a huge animal person, but we may be getting a dog in the next few years. It will be a small one, most likely a rescue daschund if we do (because we both think they are hilarious!!)

    AshleyH,
I try to get in 45 minutes of cardio and 15 minutes of weights 5 days a week with 2 days of running. I switch up my cardio between machines and my weights between upper body, lower body, abs, and pull-ups. And a rest day if I feel like it.

Grocery shopping is planning using Google Calendar and recipes I save in Google Notebook. I’m a total G-girl 🙂

    Kath
