Dine And Dash

Maze and I had lots of plans for the day, so we had to be efficient with our meals. Some of us ate faster than others

Winking smile this !

Foodblog-8018

I got things ready for the day quickly, including ingesting this fast bowl of Greek yogurt with Cville Cluster granola, banana and pumpkin butter swirled in.

Foodblog-8017Foodblog-8023

And my usual cup of coffee!

Foodblog-8016

With a side of dumpling!

Foodblog-8039

Where we were going? THE GYM!

Foodblog-16-3

Maze is old enough to go to the Kids Zone (6 weeks), but I would rather he wait another week and a half until he has his first shots to go, so Karen met us there and walked him around in the stroller while I got in a workout! He slept most of the time (who is the new baby of mine who sleeps!?) and after Karen passed him back off to me, she got in her workout.

I started off with the 20 minute walk there, followed by 15 minutes on the Stairmaster. HARD work, but man-oh-man was it awesome to sweat hard not related to 100* summer temperatures!! I then did about 25 minutes worth of weight lifting – so happy to be lifting heavier weights again! I did free weights and some machines. My arms are ready for push-ups but my core is not! Wonder if I will be sore tomorrow..

After my workout I met with the staff and changed my individual membership to a family membership. An expensive upgrade, but this includes free unlimited childcare AND Matt! He hasn’t felt it was worth the expense to join, but with the upgrade to a family membership, adding Matt was not that much more than adding Mazen. I’m sure we’ll start a family tradition of going as a threesome on the weekends! Also, I was able to retroactively freeze my membership for the ~50 days I missed postpartum, so that was a really nice savings!

Logistically, I fed Maze before we left and then I knew I had about 2.5-3 hours until he would be hungry again. The whole trip took a while, and I fed him in the Kids Zone nursery before we walked home. It was fun to watch the other babies in there!

Foodblog-13-3

Back at home I was blessed with just a long enough swing nap to eat lunch!

Foodblog-8034

A really good lunch too!

Foodblog-8026

Smoked salmon on High Five with mustard

Foodblog-8028

A big salad of local greens, avocado, spiced pecans (I’m all out!) and honey drizzle

Foodblog-8032

Plus grapes!

Foodblog-8027

Then I showered while M played with a new giraffe friend!

Foodblog-8046

This afternoon we dashed over to see Dr. Tate (my back seems good postpartum!) and ate a snack: Mini wheats with milk + almond butter

Foodblog-8049

And unpacked some new clothes I bought from Old Navy! They were having a killer sale last week of 30% off everything so I took advantage and got some warmer weather clothes.

Maze says, “Vive la stripes!”

Foodblog-20-2

What also happened this afternoon? A 1.5-hour long crib nap!!!!!!!!!

Late this afternoon we tuned up my BIKE!! Wheeee!

Foodblog-8052

Because I needed to ride it to town for a fun meeting –

Foodblog-8058 Foodblog-8059

Man have I missed biking! Matt helped me tune it up, put fresh batteries in my night lights and get rid of all the spiders.

I fed the babe just before 6 and was off to….Lululemon for the night!

Foodblog-32-3

I participated in a focus group with the store manager, my friend Kirsten, one of the brand’s designers and a handful of Cville fitness buffs. The designer travels around collecting feedback from community members about what the love and look for in fitness apparel. Our wish list included: cropped pants for men, wicking base layers, tagless clothing, versatile items, powerful sports bras, drawstring tops, and more pockets everywhere.

Foodblog-32-2-2

The session was lots of fun, and we enjoyed some really delicious snacks from The Box: tofu wraps, root veggie wraps, peanut butter lemon hummus and pita chips and cabbage wraps. The dipping sauces were the best!

I ate enough that I felt satisfied and called it dinner but had some of the Brussels sprouts Matt cooked when I got home.

Foodblog-31-2

I came home with plenty of time to spare before our next feeding at 8pm. It was weird and fun to be out alone, but boy did I miss my guys!

I’ve made hummus before substituting the tahini for peanut butter and it was amazing! Also very convenient for me since I always have peanut butter around but not often tahini.

The immunizations don’t provide immediate protection once given….think of a flu shot, it takes two weeks to provide protection. Just an FYI. When I had my first baby, I didn’t know that.

Kath, I have a question about sugar and am having a hard time finding an answer online. I know that added sugar in your daily diet isn’t a good thing. But what about the sugar found in milk, yogurt and fruits and vegetables? I am trying to lose weight and generally I make good decisions. I don’t ADD much in the way of sweeteners, etc. But I still find that after getting fruit, veggies and dairy that my sugar intake is over the recommended limit. I use plain greek yogurt and just fresh fruits and veggies (as opposed to canned, flavored, etc). So I guess I’m a little confused on that. Was wondering if you could help.
