Here’s another day in the life – this time on a kid-free Thursday : )

Day In The Life
Last time I did a day in the life you guys apparently loved it! The data does not lie (haha) but also I did an Instagram poll and 96% of people said “more posts like this.”
I think the internet is taking another left turn (or perhaps a U-turn) back to more “real” authentic content after a decade of pushing more polished work. With the rise of AI, nothing seems real. So hopefully my blog with its mid photos and typos will feel like a space you can kick up your feet and relate to.
My last DITL post was on a kid-heavy Tuesday. So this time I’m sharing a Thursday when my boys aren’t here. The pace of life is certainly much slower.
I woke up naturally just before 7 and headed down for coffee at the computer. Love my Handmaid’s Tale mug, but it’s starting to fade! I’m also one episode away from the finale of that series and think it’s one of the best made shows of all time. Hard to watch, yes, but well done. Brilliant acting.

After coffee I went back up to change my sheets for the week. I put the pink ones in the laundry and put the florals back on! These are my all-time favorite affordable sheets.

The laundry unit is the only thing I hate about my new place. It is TINY!!! I can barely shove a set of sheets in there, so I have to do laundry frequently. I asked my landlord if they would consider a bigger unit and they said absolutely not!

Breakfast!

Went with oatmeal due to the slow morning. With cottage cheese mixed in and PB on top.

Captured the morning light for you. It’s so pretty!

Yes, I ate breakfast at my computer and started working for the day. I started by updating my Tribute to Oatmeal post with some new formatting and made some pins for it. And then finished my weekly newsletter.
TeuxDeux Plan!

Since discovering grocery delivery, I am obsessed!!
I placed an order to pick up tomorrow for the weekend ahead.

Chore Break
The best part of working from home is squeezing in chores. I folded the sheets I washed that morning and put in a load of kid clothes.
I’ve been folding a fitted sheet like this for 15 years and still can’t get it perfect!

Shower
Trying out some new hydrating skincare. Remedy sent me this foaming cleanser, and I love it! Super cool bottle too. I’m also testing out this new Dime product that is to be kept secret for another week! You can see my full morning skincare routine here.

Dressed for the gym!
I got this new Old Navy jacket on sale, and these are my favorite leggings.

I also packed up my clothes for after my workout later in the evening –

Lunch
I worked straight through the morning and had lunch around 12:30. Leftover quiche and an apple. The oatmeal filled me up pretty well, so I wasn’t terribly hungry.

Back to work!
I wrote the Hatch review post (coming soon) and two Substack articles.

I wrapped up around 3:30 and had 15 minutes to kill, so I played my piano and finished putting away Birch’s laundry!

Afterburn!
I didn’t take a pic at the gym, but luckily my friend Ivy did! Candidly talking before class started. Class was hard, per usual!

Popito’s Pizza
Our group went to the new Popito’s Pizza downtown for a quick dinner before heading to Live Arts. The pizzas were so good, and the staff super friendly!

Stage Kiss at Live Arts
If you are local, you MUST go see Stage Kiss at Live Arts! My good friend Fabi is the star, and the show was HILARIOUS! Look at the crowd there to support him!

The show went well passed 10, and I washed my face and went straight to bed when I got home.

I hope you’re right about the internet taking a turn back to more authentic content.
Do you have a link for the cute black and white striped bag?

It’s interesting reading your posts after downsizing because it’s made me realize how so many of these things are a matter of perspective. I’ve lived in larger cities my whole adult life where space is more limited and I remember how excited I was to have in-unit laundry (my first condo in Boston, while lovely, only had laundry rooms). So your current setup is what I’ve lived with for most of my adult life and I also remember your recent pantry post and thinking that your small pantry still looked quite large by big city standards. Obviously your adjustment is still very much real and valid! But it made me think about how all influencer culture with influencers living in these giant mansions or home design shows can really skew the perspective of the amount of space we need. I know I’ve personally been on a path for a few years to do more with less because I knew if I wanted to move into a career that was more flexible and values-aligned than what I was doing in the past that spending less would give me more personal freedom. It was hard at first but has actually been a good thing the longer I’ve done it. I imagine it was hard to give up living in your newly remodeled house (having remodeled our main bathroom and lived through that remodel and the cost I get it), but I hope in the long run it will feel like a worthwhile tradeoff towards living a more authentic life. 🙂

Thanks for sharing your perspective! It is a privilege to even have a choice like this compared to so much of the world.

Curious about the crew you hang out with a lot – do many of these people also have partners and kids or no?
Kath Younger says
Some have kids, some are married, some were married, some are dating, and some are single : ) It’s a mix.

Your tribute to oatmeal was the very first post I read on your blog. Forever changed my relationship with oatmeal! Turned a food that I thought I disliked into one that now has a regular place in my menu!
