Cran-Tastic Part II

Helllllll yeaaaaahhh

IMG_9528 (640x427)

Dinner turned out awesome!! Back-to-back nights worthy of a recipe page!!

Cranberry Crock-Pot Chicken

More photo love –

I sipped on POM + Tonic while I cooked 🙂

IMG_9520 (640x427)

IMG_9531 (640x427)

Two ingredients are worthy of a second mention:

First, the chicken was from Greensbury Market, which is an online source for organic chicken if you have trouble finding it in your area. It arrived packed on ice and frozen in nice packages for ease-of-weeknight-use. It is quite expensive though, so I’d probably only use it for special reasons, like low availability or lack of quality in my local area.

IMG_9496 (640x427)

This was the third time I’ve had the Tribal Moose BBQ sauce. (See Cran-Tastic and Haircuts + Limericks!) I honestly think it’s one of the best BBQ sauces I’ve tasted, but y’all know I love the sweet/savory combo and this definitely has it. In the slow cooker tonight it got all smoky and I even tasted hints of cacao nibs in the charred edges! Doesn’t look like it’s in many stores, but it’s not too expensive to order online. It was pretty darn delicious!!

However, I’m authorized to give some away!! THREE winners will get some shipped to their doorstep. Just leave a comment to enter!

***

We licked our plates clean!! This was one of those meals where we “mmmmed” our way through. Matt made several funny comments about how he didn’t know cranberries could be good (he’s not into all the seasonal foods like pumpkin, cinnamon, squash and cranberries like I am 😉 )

IMG_9534 (640x427) IMG_9535 (640x427) IMG_9519 (640x427)

***

Just learned about an AWESOME opportunity for you guys on December 1st! Mark your calendars!!

***

I’m going to celebrate being done with classes for a full 7 days with a snack and a movie: Marie Antoinette. (Or at least the first half – it’s late!)

I’m trying out another flavor of TEMPT – the vanilla bean. I really disliked the mint chocolate and the chocolate biscotti was just OK.

IMG_9543 (640x427) ‘

Sadly, this one isn’t much better. It tastes rather fake 🙁 I REALLY wanted to like this flavor, but I can’t give it 26 stars. I had it with a cup of yogi tea and some butterscotch chips!

Goodnight!

I love BBQ sauce (as well as cranberries). I’d love to win.

I am trying to figure out the best way to use my fresh local cranberries besides a somewhat bitter ingredient in oatmeal.

Also, my family has ordered almost all of our meats from Grassland Beef , now US Wellness Meats(www.grasslandbeef.com). They have an amazing variety of organic, grassfed, free range meats as well as number of other goodies that are more expensive than what you would find in a grocery store but not outrageous. We have been ordering our meat from them for several years and have never been disappointed with the quality of the meat. They also mail the meat frozen in proper packaging. I encourage everyone to check it out!

My partner doesn’t really like seasonal foods, either. He’s just learning to cook, though (we split the cooking 50/50) and when he realizes that seasonal foods taste better and are cheaper, I’m sure they’ll be much more appealing to him.

Hey there! Now, that looks amazing! I’m hoping to score a good deal on a slow-cooker this Black Friday because you’re recent recipes have been tempting me so! And this one is no exception.

Did you throw in fresh cranberries, or did those come in the sauce? I have half of a 12-oz. package left over and need a way to cook them. (In-laws hosting Thanksgiving and have a family tradition of a cran-orange relish, so I can’t make a batch to take there…)
