Cloudy Morning, Foggy Mind

Blahhhh. Sunshine please come out! And I overslept again. And had really, really weird dreams!

I’ve got to get on the ball working out on time because I’m due uptown to meet Michelle for lunch! I’m lightrailing it up and hopefully biking to the lightrail as well.

Today’s oatmeal:

  • 1/3 oats
  • 1/3 1%
  • 1/3 H2O
  • Vanilla + salt
  • Flax
  • Blueberries ~3/4 cup
  • Trail mix
  • PB

I have a vanilla suggestion for your oats. Ever tried vanilla bean paste? I bought some at Williams Sonoma for a recipe, and it is FAB. It’s kinda like a cross between vanilla extract and whole vanilla bean; has the nice black flecks in it but is cheaper than using a whole bean ($11 for a giant bottle). I used some in oats the other day and it was awesome.

Question for everyone- do you ever find that some days you’re just not hungry? I just stopped counting calories (today is day 6 of no calorie counting-yay) and although I’m still eating a normal breakfast and lunch (which I was eating when counting calories so I know I’m not eating more calories for those 2 meals then usual) I’m just not hungry for dinner! It’ll be 9 pm and I’ll be sitting there, still waiting for my hunger to appear.

The last two nights I’ve eaten anyways- but since I’m trying to listen to my body and eat more intuitively, this seems kind of counterproductive.

So after my long explanation my question is-does this every happen to anyone? And if so, do you eat or do you just skip dinner since your body would feel hungry if it needed more fuel.

Thanks to anyone and everyone who can clear this up for me!

has anyone tried making muffins using the plastic “tins”? I was wondering if there are any health risks in using them. They look like they would work really well and the muffins would just fall out when their done baking! Anyone tried?

SarahF: I have some days that I’m not particularly hungry, so I eat a little less. However, I do still make sure to eat all three meals, otherwise I’m just setting myself up to be STARVING the next day or so! I’d go ahead and still have something for dinner, even if it’s just something smaller. I finally quit counting calories a few months ago and sometimes I may not necessarily feel hungry, but if it’s been quite a while since I’ve eaten then I go ahead and will still eat something…my body needs the fuel! It does seem a little counter-intuitive, but so far it’s worked for me. And sometimes I’ll be hungry but if I wait it out it goes away…then when it IS finally lunchtime I’m not necessarily hungry anymore. But I’ll still eat lunch!
Oh, and I used to not get hungry OR full! That probably wasn’t a good thing though because then I’d just eat whenever food was around, basically! Hunger is a weird thing!

    Anyone else have any thoughts?

I find that my appetite goes on a monthly cycle right alongside…well the other monthly cycle 🙂

During “hell week” as I like to call it I eat a TON, way more then usual, then when it’s over my appetite drops way off and I cut back, sometimes I will only have 2 meals and a snack a day. Then it builds back up again and as soon as the week hits I’m in fourth meal mode. It’s weird and probably not the best but it’s been like that as long as I can remember!

    OH NO

I saw Chobani Greek yogurt at the store yesterday and I have been dying to try it since you guys all love greek yogurt so much. It’s really expensive ($1.60 for one) compared to my other yogurt but I bought one just to try it. And– I LOVED it. It’s so yummy but I’m so mad at myself because I know it’s too expensive to have regularly. Oh well, I’ll have to splurge and have some every once in a while.

I always go ahead and eat something, although something smaller. When I don’t I get ravenously hungry later and that just sets up eating too much.

I accidentally put a dash of pepper in my oatmeal this morning (I forgot which was the salt and which was the pepper in my silver shakers) and it was REALLY good!

    Ozlem,
TJ’s Nuts Over Raspberries. My favorite.

    caitlin ,
    I saw!! Looked great.

    BethT,
OMG!! I can’t wait to try that. It’s on my to-do list 🙂 Sounds perfect for oats!!

    SarahF ,
I occasionally am not hungry for a meal and I usually just try to postpone it a little to home hunger comes (and sometimes just thinking about it makes it come!). But I rarely am not hungry AT ALL. I would try to still have a small meal or I do think it would backfire and you’d wake up starving in the night or something.

    Chelsea ,
Pepper, huh. Was it in sweet or savory oats? With fruit?

    Kath
