One of the most gorgeous days I’ve ever experienced. From the view to the weather to the emotions expressed all day, it’s been a memorable one for sure.
The wedding took place at a chapel 45 minutes from Spartanburg called Glassy Chapel
The view was one of the greatest I’ve ever seen!
We hold hands during weddings and think about our own <3
I got my own little bouquet!
Cheryl was stunning in her purple floor length dress
The ceremony was at 1:30 and the reception just following down the hill
We were all ready for lunch…dinner?
I started with a few bacon wrapped scallops
And pecan + blue cheese bite
And mixed some lemonade with tea
The buffet was heavy on the veggies – yay!
I filled up with the veg – they tasted so good. Mashed potatoes with mushrooms (a “baked potato” bar!), salad with bacon and eggs, green beans, roasted veggies, a roll.
Also had a few small glasses of wine with lunch
Bourbon Pecan, yo!
And chocolate raspberry. Cheryl and Mark love books – so the grooms cake was perfect 🙂
This champagne was awesome!
Clearly we’re a cake eatin’ family!
Round 1, I had one of each.
Both were excellent! But my white cake was a bit small, and there was plenty left, so I went back for seconds. And luckily Carrie hooked me up!! I didn’t eat all of the cake part, but the filling was just like pecan pie. YUM!
Things got a little rowdy on the cousin front!
After the wedding concluded, we all changed clothes and rendezvoused at the couple’s house for gumbo. Cheryl’s family is from Louisiana and she and her mother made authentic Cajun gumbo with chicken, sausage and rice.
Cheryl’s mother showed me the jarred roux they use. I’ve never seen anything like it! Flour and vegetable oils in a jar
I was just barely not full so I had a small bowl and called it a night. It tasted thick and hearty!
No alcohol – I need a break from too much eating
Played a little pool
Held hands with Senora
I actually turned down key lime pie – imagine that!
But I’m feeling great now and excited for a solid 8 hours of sleep before we head back to Charlotte tomorrow.
What a gorgeous wedding!
Ahh, I love weddings 🙂
chocolate raspberry? yum yum yum … congrats to the newlyweds 🙂
You and Matt are just too cute!!
I wore a purple wedding dress! 🙂 This looks like a really fun afternoon wedding. I love unique groom’s cakes. And I love Sonora – what a little doll. Sleep tight!

Everyone looks so beautiful and happy, I love it.
The first picture of you is breath taking. I love how the pictures go from beautiful, classy wedding to jumbo in a throw away bowl. Now that’s my kind of “china!”
Looks like everybody had so much fun! Love this post…

I’ve ALWAYS wanted to get into the Cliffs at Glassy! It’s so amazing! Jealous! I’ve driven by there a million times from Greenville up the mountains, but security is so tight! What a treat!

Is it sad that I got a little nervous for you seeing you standing so high up while so close to the edge? lol
It’s so heartwarming to see how in love you and Matt are. <3
Those cakes sound (and look!) perfectly amazing!! I LOVE pecans, but they're so expensive so I don't get to have them very often. That makes me want the cake even more! =)
What a perfect day and wonderful pictures to remember it by.
everything looks so good,.
My boyfriends cousins got married there last year! I had a feeling that was the church you were talking about when you said it was on the side of a cliff. It’s so beautiful 🙂
And the food looked amazing! Definitely made me hungry!
What a gorgeous wedding! Those cakes look really delicious too. I love when cakes have different fillings.

This is GORGEOUS. Small weddings are so much more intimate and cozy than big ones, and I love that this has a casual vibe but is still so classic and special. Glad you had a great time, and congrats to the couple!!
Looks like a beautiful day all around! That cake sounds incredible especially the part about pecan pie. 🙂
10/10/10 what a great anniversary date!! Looks like everything was perfect, from the weather to the gumbo! That roux looks a little scary, though…….
Such a beautiful wedding. That bourbon pecan cake sounds fantastic!! Only in the south. 🙂 Safe travels home Kath. 🙂

That looks like such a cute church for a wedding! And those views are stunning!
AHH I’ve never seen Andrew in a suit or tie, he looks soo CUTE!! thanks for posting, i know he would never surface these photos otherwise.
Ohhhh my gosh. I about flipped out when I saw where the wedding was. I wanted our wedding there for the longest time, but logistically it would have been too hard. I first went to that little chapel when I was about 16, visiting my grandparents. Then, last year in October I went back..it was where his NC funeral was held. http://edibleperspective.com/2009/11/catch-up-time/ It is such an amazing place. I love it there SO much!!!
