Cliffhanger

IMG_6502_edited-1 (640x427)

One of the most gorgeous days I’ve ever experienced. From the view to the weather to the emotions expressed all day, it’s been a memorable one for sure.

IMG_6487_edited-1 (640x427)

The wedding took place at a chapel 45 minutes from Spartanburg called Glassy Chapel

IMG_6497_edited-1 (427x640)

The view was one of the greatest I’ve ever seen!

IMG_6467_edited-1 (640x427) IMG_6458_edited-1 (640x427) IMG_6500_edited-1 (640x427) IMG_6506_edited-1 (640x427)

IMG_6476_edited-1 (640x427)

IMG_6479_edited-1 (640x427)

We hold hands during weddings and think about our own <3

IMG_6489_edited-1 (640x427)

IMG_6472_edited-1 (427x640)

IMG_6522 (640x427)

IMG_6514 (640x427)

IMG_6495_edited-1 (640x427)

I got my own little bouquet!

IMG_6518 (640x427)

Cheryl was stunning in her purple floor length dress

IMG_6538 (640x427)

IMG_6528 (427x640)

IMG_6524 (427x640)

IMG_6529 (640x427)

IMG_6537 (640x427) IMG_6543 (640x427)

IMG_6545 (427x640) IMG_6550 (427x640)

IMG_6548 (640x427)

The ceremony was at 1:30 and the reception just following down the hill

IMG_6571 (640x427)

We were all ready for lunch…dinner?

IMG_6557 (640x427)

IMG_6559 (640x427)

IMG_6560 (640x427)

I started with a few bacon wrapped scallops

IMG_6563 (640x427)

And pecan + blue cheese bite

IMG_6565 (640x427)

IMG_6558 (640x427)

And mixed some lemonade with tea

IMG_6573 (640x427)

IMG_6572 (640x427)

The buffet was heavy on the veggies – yay!

IMG_6578 (640x427)

I filled up with the veg – they tasted so good. Mashed potatoes with mushrooms (a “baked potato” bar!), salad with bacon and eggs, green beans, roasted veggies, a roll.

IMG_6579 (640x427)

Also had a few small glasses of wine with lunch

IMG_6577 (640x427)

IMG_6663 (640x427)

IMG_6568 (640x427)

Bourbon Pecan, yo!

IMG_6569 (427x640)

And chocolate raspberry. Cheryl and Mark love books – so the grooms cake was perfect 🙂

IMG_6566 (640x427)

IMG_6584 (640x427)

IMG_6622 (640x427)

This champagne was awesome!

IMG_6602 (640x427)

Clearly we’re a cake eatin’ family!

IMG_6605 (640x427)

IMG_6611 (427x640)

Round 1, I had one of each.

IMG_6613 (640x427)

Both were excellent! But my white cake was a bit small, and there was plenty left, so I went back for seconds. And luckily Carrie hooked me up!! I didn’t eat all of the cake part, but the filling was just like pecan pie. YUM!

IMG_6619 (640x427)

IMG_6620 (640x427)

IMG_6634 (427x640)

Things got a little rowdy on the cousin front!

IMG_6640 (640x427) IMG_6639 (640x427) IMG_6629 (640x427) IMG_6646 (640x427) IMG_6648 (640x427) IMG_6650 (640x427) IMG_6652 (640x427) IMG_6657 (640x427)

IMG_6665 (640x427)

IMG_6669 (640x427)

Cake, demolished!

IMG_6670 (640x427)

After the wedding concluded, we all changed clothes and rendezvoused at the couple’s house for gumbo. Cheryl’s family is from Louisiana and she and her mother made authentic Cajun gumbo with chicken, sausage and rice.

IMG_6687 (640x427)

Cheryl’s mother showed me the jarred roux they use. I’ve never seen anything like it! Flour and vegetable oils in a jar

IMG_6728 (640x427)

I was just barely not full so I had a small bowl and called it a night. It tasted thick and hearty!

IMG_6704 (640x427)

No alcohol – I need a break from too much eating

IMG_6702 (427x640)

Played a little pool

IMG_6697 (640x427)

IMG_6688 (640x427)

IMG_6693 (640x427)

Held hands with Senora

IMG_6708 (640x427)

I actually turned down key lime pie – imagine that!

IMG_6721 (427x640)

But I’m feeling great now and excited for a solid 8 hours of sleep before we head back to Charlotte tomorrow.

Nite!

Ohhhh my gosh. I about flipped out when I saw where the wedding was. I wanted our wedding there for the longest time, but logistically it would have been too hard. I first went to that little chapel when I was about 16, visiting my grandparents. Then, last year in October I went back..it was where his NC funeral was held. http://edibleperspective.com/2009/11/catch-up-time/ It is such an amazing place. I love it there SO much!!!
