Mmm, doughy oats. Just finished my OOIAJ, thanks to you introducing them to me. They have grown on me, as I wasn’t a fan at first. But, yum!
    Love the glass!

I love adding some oats to my smoothies — I first read about it in New Rules of Lifting for Women and I thought it sounded insane — but it adds really great texture!

Those chalk glasses are super cute!

Does it make it thicker? Never been a smoothie fan because I prefer thick stuff…and just eating the food 😉 But if it was more like a thick shake or something it’d be more appealing.

I am dying to make blended oats! They look amazing.
Do you blend them while they are hot or after they’ve cooled? If you blend them while hot do you serve them hot as well?
I have roommates and have a hard time making blended items in the morning. I am going to try to start making them at night, so do you think I could make these oats at night? Keep them chilled in the fridge and serve them chilled? Or possibly just throw them in the microwave for a few seconds?
    Thanks!

Does blending change the nutritional value of food at all (with smoothies or oats)? (Does the body have to do “less work” because its already been broken down some?)

It only changes the glycemic index – or how fast it enters the blood. It doesn’t change the nutritional value

    Hi Kath,
I was down visiting my sister yesterday and she mentioned that she was going to ask me to go to Great Harvest Alexandria to pick her up some of her favorite bread. I was happy to tell her she would soon have a much closer option in Charlottesville and turned her on to your business site. She was asking for the Spinach Feta bread, I notice it isn’t on your list of favorites. I had thought maybe it was Popeye (it made sense) but then looked that up to find out it was another Spinach bread. Any chance you will be making the Spinach Feta? Also her twins are Rosemary and Olivia and we think you should be able to come up with a great Rosemary Olive bread. Looks like things are going well with the bakery. Good luck to you and Matt.

They are slightly different – Popeye has herbs and red pepper and Spinach Feta is just spinach and feta. We don’t have SF on our opening menu, but we will probably do it as a special sometime. And I LOVE the names Rosemary and Olivia!! Rosemary Olive would be a great bread!
