Karen brought over lunch today! I had plans to eat some leftovers, but when she started making sandwiches I had to partake. I popped in some kale chips to compliment the meal.
[Matt was busy tending to the brew!]
We had delicious grilled hummus + turkey sandwiches with avocado, hummus, tomato and spinach (Karen and I split one, as they were quite large)
Everyone liked their kale chips!
Fruit for the nutrients!
After lunch Andrew and I ventured to Michelle + Ben’s where Gilbert is staying while Kate + Nate are in Disney! I offered to give the doggies a mid-day walk –

I LOVED this NERD KERF! I just made my own spreadsheet – you rock Kath!
Fabulous way to budget!! Thanks so much as its helped me re-do my monthly budget that was very disorganized before. you’re awesome!
I wish I had the patience to set up a budget like that!
Those kale chips look great, but I’m sure I would be the only one eating them in my family.
Thanks for the videos. They are always so helpful. The husband and I are trying to get better at budgeting our money so maybe I’ll give a spreadsheet a try!
That sandwich looks delicious and I am a nerd as well so I love the videos!
I used to do a budget manually this way but then I discovered Quicken and my life is FOREVER changed!!! LOVE it.!
I had a love affair with Quicken and it ended shortly. It tried to control me!
Kath, do you have any cute shoes??? Booties, flats, skinny boots? All i ever see you wear is sneakers.
Uh, yeah? I wore boots last night. I just got back from walking the dogs. Didn’t really want to wear heels for that…

Thank you for that NERD KERF! I use a microsoft word file and that looks so much more convenient
okie good point
I guess overall I rarely see you in cute shoes but I think you would look fab in then
I think Kath wears cute sneakers…
Amanda @ Cakes and Ale says
Who cares what kind of shoes Kath wears, Gloria? I don’t remember her asking for your fashion advice!
Your comment to Kath speaks volumes about you – you clearly spend your time engaged in frivilous activities such as reading fashion magazines and gain satisfaction from making unkind remarks to others. (Next time you lash out, you should probably check your spelling so as not to cause further shame on yourself.)
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
Mmm…that sandwich looks delicious! Yay for dogs on KERF!!!
what a super video!!! i heart nerd kerf.
i have a pretty good handle on my own expenses/savings right now, but starting next month (or january, maybe i guess) when my boyfriend moves here and we combine our incomes and more of our expenses, something like this will be quite useful.
Paige@ RunningAroundNormal says
I need to try making some kale chips. I might do so tomorrow. I have a big ol’ bag of them in the fridge right now!

Thanks for these videos — they are great!! 😀
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
What super cute pups! 🙂
Thank you for the budget spreadsheet. I actually just woke up this morning thinking, “I really need to make a spreadsheet to get my budget on paper rather than just keep it in my head,” and lo and behold, you made an awesome video on budget spreadsheets!!! I’m thankful for your helpfulness and wonderful website. Happy Thanksgiving Eve!! 🙂
Great videos Kath! I find budgeting to be very empowering. I particularly like the idea of the savings “recovery” if you fall short one month
Thanks for all the nerd KERF videos! Love them. Can you do a video on decluttering as well? 😉
o, btw, if you select three columns (it doesn’t matter if they have text in them) and right click, Google Docs (and excel!) let you insert three columns at the same time, so you don’t have to repeat it three times.
I knew you could do that in Excel – didn’t think about it Google docs! I’m planning to do a house video soon.
i would have eaten the whole sandwich, that was not bit at all
Kath your Nerd KERF Budget is wonderfully done! I am an accountant (in the process of getting my CPA) and I do this every month as well. It is soo important for people to keep track of their finances and spending especially in GOOD times so that we can prepare for the not so good times like the economy now. You are going to make an awesome RD, but you would have made a great accountant too!!
