Bumming Around

I slept for 10 hours last night! Had tons of dreams too. After getting up at 6 to run two days in a row, I was thankful for the extra sleep.

Matt and I were supposed to spend today going on a biking adventure and mowing the lawn – but it’s pouring

this !

We made a delicious oat bran breakfast. This is actually Great Harvest 9 Grain cereal, but it’s mostly oat bran with bits of the 8 other grains (I found some millet and suspect there’s also amaranth, barley, bulgur, etc.)

The mix:

  • 1 serving 9 grain blend (1/4 cup), 3/4 cup water, half banana, pinch salt
  • 1 tbsp raisins
  • Sprinkle flax
  • 1/3 Quaker Simple Harvest Dark Chocolate Chunk, crumbled
  • A few almonds
  • Small scoop Chocolate Vanilla Almond Butter

My mom gave me these stylish French placemats she though would be “good for the blog”

Some coffee –

    Greta ,
They were a gift many years ago and she’s had them for ages, so I don’t think they are traceable.

Hi Kath, I am an avid KERF reader and have been for probable aclose to 2 years now, I do comment every so often…

I have noticed over the past few months that as much as your posting/blogging style hasn’t changed (and doesn’t need to, it is great!) all of the comments have become about the house/furnishings/clothing and less and less people are talking about food, recipes, advice and sharing their habits, opinions and questions.

I love reading the blog but have less and less interest in the comment section. By no means is this meant to be harsh because obviously I can simply just not read the comments, I am just curious if you have noticed this and maybe, why?? I used to enjoy the conversations that went on here!

Your mom is so funny with the “for the blog” action. My mom actually has been trying to get in on the writing action. Yesterday she kept saying, “Oh you should say this on the blog!” which was usually followed by some terribly unfunny joke.

In other words, it was JUST LIKE my blog.

Aw I love that your mommy thought the placemats would be great for the blog, which she’s right. They’re awesome. My dad (surprisingly) gets into my food photos whenever I’m home. He makes sure everything is set right and that nothing is in the way. He also won’t eat until I finish taking my pics, and I’m like, Dad, it’s alright!

I wish there was a Great Harvest locally as I miss their breads and now it looks like they’ve expanded to cereals. I’m originally from the Midwest and remember going there for honey wheat bread. I thought it was a family owned business and didn’t realize it was a chain.

    Shawna,
Since you say my writing style and content haven’t changed, then I have no explanation for the change in comments. It seems there are still lots of food comments to me! I had been cooking a little less creatively as the semester came to a close, but I don’t know otherwise.

    Sarah (lovINmytummy),

    Emily ,
