Blogger Road Trip

Tina, Mal and I headed to the Y this morning and all had a great workout!! Mal had to pretend to be Matt for the day and Tina was Mallory – the female version 🙂 I climbed the stairmaster for 30 minutes, spent 10 on the squirrellipcal and then did 15 of lifting. I saw Mal across the room lifting hundreds of pounds in squats!!

Once home, we quickly showered, frantically packed and hit the road. I drove until 2pm and then switched with Matt to eat lunch!

While we were digesting from breakfast, I packed a delicious lunch of sandwiches, fruit and Popchips! Time-wise, a packed lunch made more sense than going out since we wanted to get to Charleston in good time. I made sure to use delicious Great Harvest bread and we packed a special dessert.

Each sandwich was a High Five FIber bun with Applegate Farms turkey, jalapeno cheese, zucchini, green pepper, jalapenos, and mustard.

It was a hellova sandwich!

The rest of the lunch all ready to go:

Watermelon and blueberries

And Cheddar Pops! (I only ate half this bag)

For dessert, Matt brought home a Turtle Bar and a Blondie

[Insert Homer Simpson drool noises here]

I had just a 1” bite of both bars at 3:30 when our Summit conference call was over!! (Yes, Tina and I were conferencing simultaneously from the car 🙂 )

We’re so thankful to Erica and Josh for hosting us for the night!!! Can’t wait to explore Charleston this evening.

Woah those desserts look awesome! And I LOVE jalapenos on my sammies too. Anything with a kick goes so well on a sandwich!

I’m making your baked oatmeal snack bars right now, they’re in the oven as I type, and I’m really excited about them 🙂

I have a quick question – there’s a Great Harvest nearby, and I was wondering if you could give me some recommendations? I see their company all over your blog, from muffins to breads…what’s the best? Thanks Kath!

    Have a great night exploring!

This post just proves my theory that road trips are at least 60% about the food. Even if you’re driving through beautiful scenery, even if something unusual happens along the way….you’re going to remember what you were eating! Actually, I’m going to remember what YOU were eating, and I wasn’t even on your trip! Looks delicious…

    Meg ,
You really can’t go wrong!! I know the breads vary some between locations, but my favorites are High Five Fiber, Whole Grain Goodness, Flax Oat Bran, and Dakota. Love all the muffins, esp. Carrot Raisin Walnut and Morning Glory. And the Turtle and Savannah bars are amazing.
