Birthday Continues

We stretched out mom’s birthday – cake 3 nights, presents from me on Friday, present from Larbs at breakfast this morning! A spa gift card!

It’s a bit dreary here, so it makes going home a little less painful.

Breakfast buffet

IMG_7630

I had the usual for breakfast – this time an Oikos I bought at the grocery store on our way down plus berries and granola.

And coffee. Love coffee when it’s already made for me!

Ferry departs in an hour – just enough time for a quick harbor walk before we go. Then 6.5 hours in a car!

Birthdays are more fun when you make them last! I am a big believer in Birthday weeks! Ha!

I am always so thankful when Mother Nature throws us a bone at the end of a vacation and the weather is less than pleasant. Especially when it’s a beach trip; I almost never want to leave!

Do you take car breaks or just drive straight through?

My last day in Co Springs was cloudy, windy and chilly. Made it sliiiiiightly less hard to leave. Still hard 🙁

Although I never want dreary weather on vacation, I agree that it makes leaving a little less painful when the weather’s not great on your last day. It’s the worst when the sun is shining and beautiful and you have to leave! Have a safe trip back.

What a wonderful way to end the weekend. Your mom must feel so blessed to be able to have such a wonderful birthday with her family. I talk to my mom 20x a day, but even though we only live 20 minutes apart, because of our schedules, visiting is not often enough.

    Have a safe trip home.

I love it when you’ve had great weather for a whole trip and then the day you leave it gets all cloudy – such good luck!

Kath, where did you guys stay in Bald Head? We live in Wilmington and have thought about going there for just an overnight trip. Any recommendations?

We stay at the Marsh Harbor Inn, where my dad has a time share. But it’s a really nice, romantic B&B that you can rent by the night. It’s more pricey in the summer, but in the off season it’s reasonable.

We had a 7.5 hour drive from our 6 day vacation…not as bad when you have snacks, packed lunches, stops for coffee and the tunes cranked! We also left in dismal weather…fog at the top of the mountain seemed to follow us home! lol Now I am up to my ears in laundry! Aagh!
