Best Dressed

Foodblog (1 of 9)

^^Two friends came over to pick greens from my garden. Instead of throwing leaves in a bag like I would have done, they made these beautiful bouquets as they picked them!

Do you know the difference between a good salad and a great salad? It’s all in the dressing. I love homemade salad dressings, but all too often resort to honey and olive oil, or prepared pesto, because when I’m hungry I’m ready to eat 5 minutes ago! But this week I was in search of something different, so I made this Creamy Vegan Salad Dressing from my friend Anne’s blog. The base is made from – wait for it – cauliflower!

Check out Anne’s site for the recipe. Just steam up some cauliflower and blend with herbs, oil, and lemon juice and you have a real-food dressing in a minute – what a great idea!

I used it to make a salad-in-a-jar dinner to take with me to the pool.

Kale from the garden:

And Manchego cheese on top!

Some of my other favorite salad dressings of seasons past:

Creamsicle

Smashed Avocado

Orange + Herb

Pumpkin Spice Tahini

Easy Summer Massaged Greens

Then there’s this graphic I made a few years back!

The kale bouquet is so fun! And I don’t make my own salad dressing nearly often enough, it is so easy and I know this! Thanks for the reminder!

One of my FAVORITE homemade dressings is actually from the 21 Day Fix booklet- orange juice, soy sauce, honey, and garlic. OMG, to die for!

Oh way fun. Loving that ‘how to build a salad dressing’ graphic. I like the idea of using jam for the sweetness in the dressing. Gonna try that!

Thank you for re-posting that salad dressing graphic! I’m so sick of my olive oil / balsamic / agave mix, so I think the addition of some dijon + herbs will make it more exciting 🙂

I love it! I have some extra cauliflower in my fridge, and am bored of my existing salad dressings.

Wow that is a delicious sounding dressing! I totally agree that a salad is all about the dressing. 🙂

I’ve definitely pinned and shared your graphic- love it! Your garden is killing it- I can barely grow basil so I’m super jealous and impressed 🙂

Your graphic that you made is my go-to if for when I need to shake up my salad dressings! It is super handy and inspiring 🙂
