    A bread question:

I buy bread from Great Harvest and another local bread company, Spring Mill, frequently and LOVE it, but it goes bad pretty quickly. Any tips on keeping it fresh? Special storage? It seems to grow mold even more quickly than my homemade bread, strangely.

    • KathEats says

      December 12, 2011 at 6:16 pm

Your Great Harvest bread goes bad quickly? It shouldn’t – it should last 7-10 days on your counter (you’re not putting it in the fridge are you?) A cheese bread will last slightly less.

I can’t speak for Spring Mill, but our breads are optimized ingredient-wise for counter top storage over a week

I ordered this when you offered it for OpenSky. The boyfriend and I ate 1/2 a bag in one sitting while watching movies. Who needs popcorn when you have C’ville Cluster?!?

Aside from the granola, I haven’t had the opportunity to try GH bc the closest one is 4 hours way. Our office received a package from one of our company reps full of GH (Lafayette, La) goodies and they were amazzzzing! We received chocolate chip oatmeal cookies (those babies are HUGGGGGGEE!) and cinnamon burst bread!

Not that this is any of my business – I saw it on a local bakery website, but do y’all offer incentives for sales reps? Medical or insurance (that’s what I’m in!). I know they have a limited amount to spend for businesses but it would be a great way for them to save some money if they were discounted but also getting the GH name around, too!

We actually don’t offer a discount and haven’t thought about that before. We do have a catering menu with similar boxes that are discounted, so I’m sure they could use that. We haven’t been approached by anyone yet. Something to think about

Almost took a detour on my way to Norfolk this weekend just for Cville Cluster Granola (so good!) Also, after reading your post about the Dogfish Head 120 minute IPA, I picked some up as a homecoming present for my brother, and it was a hit! Thanks! Perfect for the special occasion 🙂

    Hi Kath,
I have been following your blog for almost 2 years and never actually reached out! You are part of my daily morning routine – KERF, breakfast at my desk, and a coffee. Your meals are inspiring and I love following the home renovations. I love that you can ride your bike to work 🙂 So cute. NYC living is much differnt. I love love love granola and would love to see what your bakery is producing. The best thing about following my favorite bloggies is that it reminds me…If you guys are doing it daily, so can I…And I do!

I’ve become much more creative when making my salads, because I’ve seen all the various components you like to toss into yours. I love the crunch that granola gives my yogurt and its more fun to put into my oatmeal cookies. Thanks for all the salad and oatmeal variations…they make my food more fun now.

At that time I visited their website and was planning to place an order, but now I cannot locate the website and was hoping you could tell me who it might be. The only thing I remember about the couple is that they are young and he is a chiropractor. Thanks!

Usually I just buy ingredients – a few proteins and a lot of veggies – and build meals as I go.

Nope, don’t really get tired of it, but I only have oatmeal maybe 50% of the time – I also have smoothies, pancakes, toast, overnights oats, etc.

I want some of your granola! I seriously look up to you. You are one of the first blogs I’ve read on a daily basis and I’m thinking about opening my own bakery down here in FL! I just always think how lucky people are to have your bakery in their town where they can just pop on over and get their fresh bread for the week. We have nothing like that here, only generic Corporations. Lately, I’ve really been enjoying making my own bread/bread products in my very own kitchen. Which is what type of cooking/baking I found I love most. I promise I’m not just sucking up to you because I want your granola haha. You honestly just inspire me 🙂
