Babysitter’s Club

Howdy, friends! Did you have a good weekend? Ours was filled with awesome weather by day and babysitting by night!

Foodblog-6999

Friday night we walked downtown and picnicked with pizza from Christian’s. This is going to become a weekly affair! We split a pizza with a bunch of friends and no one was happier than Mr. Mazen.

Foodblog-6987

He LOVES pizza!

Foodblog-6988

And I love their avocado feta pizza that I had with a glass of wine : )

Foodblog-6990

The kids played and the grownups chased them around

Foodblog-7000

Friday night after the sun set I headed to our neighbor’s house and did some babysitting for them. We’re trading post-bedtime sitting once a month or so and it’s so nice!

Saturday morning Maze and I went to the gym while Matt was on top of Montalto slicing bread for the annual up-hill 5K race.

During athletic conditioning I pulled something in my back and had to stop short. The staff got me some ice and it got better and better as the day progressed. I’m really hoping it was just a fluke and that I’ll be fine. It’s feeling normal the day after.

Mazen and I strolled through the market and had tastes of bread and strawberries!

Foodblog-7006

We came home with freshly made corn tortillas, pickled watermelon (that M loved!) and the new Juice Laundry strawberry shake that’s made from s-berries, almonds, vanilla and dates. It’s divine!

Foodblog-7007

I also bought a locally smoked trout that I had for lunch.

Foodblog-7010

Some Caromont Farm cheese (one of which I took to that night’s party)

Foodblog-7011

And strawberries! Note many are missing : )

Foodblog-7012

Trout salad! With a tortilla on the edge. (I had done some snacking so that’s why this looks small)

Foodblog-7014

Mazen tried the Australian Pie Guy’s pie with a side of mac and cheese. He sure loved it!

Foodblog-7019

Saturday afternoon we headed to our friends’ for a Derby Party! The best mint juleps ever!

Foodblog-7020

Kevin is from Kentucky, so he’s all about the traditions. This was such a fun family event, and we all bet on horses. We drew our horses from a hat to be fair. My horse was Dance with Fate and didn’t do so well, but Matt had Commanding Curve and won $25 from the pot! Since he took the $5 he bet from my wallet, I got that back plus $5 interest : )

Foodblog-7032

We had delicious food

Foodblog-7024

And I almost ate this yummy baby! Just a few weeks old.

Foodblog-7026

Saturday night we had Sylvia over for a slumber party while her parents went to a wedding. Highlight of my night was when she asked me to sing her to sleep. Hope it was the highlight of hers! Ha!

image

Sunday we ate breakfast, went running, entertained some out of town family friends, ate lunch…

Scrambled egg, smoked trout and Caromont Farm cheese over greens with toast

Foodblog-7033

And wedding cake that Sarah brought me as a thank you for watching S!

Foodblog-7034

Sunday night we went to the Hill & Holler dinner!!! To be continued…

Whenever I see the pictures of you guys picnicing outside with all the other people – I wish they did something like that around here (or maybe I need to look harder). It just seems like the very essense of Summer to me – of course you get to enjoy nicer weather in Spring. 🙂

The little baby looks so precious – and you’re rocking a killer / envying bicep in the picture too!!

I saw some smoked salmon at the store and thought of you. I was scared to get it because I didn’t have any salad fixings. But I want to try it soon.

S/N: My son has agreed to eat salads one day a week this spring and summer. So that’s salad (probably with chicken), seafood friday, and a meatless day. Making progress slowly. Now for this pollen to end so I can get out the house and ride my bike.
