All The Pretty Horses

We had a great time at Foxfield – other than the fact that it was windy and freezing!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhh, I can never win.

But the tailgate spread was delicious, the company fun and the ambiance festive.

We were invited up to the grand stand with Sharon and Beverly, friends of friends of Karen 🙂

IMG_4888 (640x427) (2)

It was quite the scene!

And quite the view!

Matt and I bet a beer at Beer Run on a race. My horse lost 🙁

Lowlight of my day

IMG_4815 (640x427) (2)

Highlight of my day!

IMG_4817 (640x427) (2)

We had lots of snacks and a make-your-own sandwich bar

IMG_4819 (640x427) (2)

I had half a sandwich smeared with hummus, avocado, tomato, sprouts and lettuce

IMG_4840 (640x427) (2) IMG_4841 (640x427)

Plus veggies, chips, hummus, a few crackers (and more straight from he bowls!)

IMG_4839 (640x427) (2)

IMG_4838 (640x427) (2)

And a seltzer and cranberry

IMG_4830 (640x427) (2)

Throughout the afternoon I ate my weight in veggies – the best thing to munch on! Karen’s friend Tracy brought them and they were so fresh!

IMG_4844 (640x427) (2)

I had two small glasses of wine

The horses ate beautiful. 🙂 I personally don’t care for racing since I’ve known so many retired racers that are just beaten physically and mentally..but it’s a sport and I respect anybody who participates none the less.

Portapotties would definitely be the low point of my day, too- those things are never pleasant!

What a fun day at the race track. We had an outing at Del Mar race track in San Diego and I wish they allowed bringing our own food in so that I could bring healthier choices. It was fun during the actual races but in between the races, we also had fun drinking (it was too hot to have wine so it was a beerfest) and doing healthy pickings at the sandwich bar.

Not to be a downer, but the only beings who don’t really have a good time at a horse race, are the horses. A little research into horse racing tells a terrible story. Ask anybody who rescues horses off the track. On the other hand, those brownies look awesome!!!

If you want to see a fun human/horse activity that the horses actually like, check out this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEC_WE1AQLg
