After These Messages

We’ll be riiiiiight back!

All that was missing from this complete breakfast was the cartoons – and a glass of OJ!

The husband was having a major egg craving, so I gave into my oatmeal craving and we had an eggy breakfast with all the fixins.

1.5 scrambled eggs each, with toast (Rudi’s Honey Wheat) and whipped (melted) butter.

DSC04279

And banana, grapes and some greek yogurt –

DSC04281

Gotta have my AM banana 🙂 Actually, I jumped up and added a tsp of peanut butter to the banana after I started eating.

DSC04282

Plus a milky coffee. This breakfast should have all the fuel I need to get me through to lunch easily, so we’ll see if I’m missing my usual oaty soluble fiber.

DSC04278

We were up at 5 this morning for the gym, although it was slow going. I did 30 minutes on the Stairmaster there, plus a speedy round of upper body free weights. And we biked there and back.

I’m off to take my Organic quiz, then I have lab this afternoon ( 👿 ). We are extracting caffeine from tea. Sounds cool, but it’s not.

Hope you have a not-so-manic Monday 8)

Your breakfast looks so balanced and delicious. I honestly don’t know how you get up so early for am workouts. I would love to do that, although I guess if I went to bed earlier it might become easier. Have a great week and good luck on your quiz.

I’m curious, does your food ever get cold while you’re setting up the photo shoots? Do these dishes head right back to the microwave immediately after the shots are taken?

Especially eggs. They get cold so fast. Almost as fast as potatoes.

    Charlie Hills,
My photos only take me 30 seconds or so – no longer than if you hopped up for a napkin, so it’s not a big time to get cold.

Looking good! Oats are great- but sometimes I like having several separate foods to eat for breakfast (rather than everything in one bowl). Good luck on your quiz!!

    Jenn ,
I could use some advice on hardwood cleaning technique myself, but when I asked the blog a few months ago several readers recommended distilled vinegar and water, and I have to say it’s a pretty magical solution. The vinegar losens the dirt from the floor, but my problem now is getting the lose dirt on the floor into a bucket of water. I need a bucket and my microfiber Method Mop doesn’t seem to be The.Best. tool for the job. I go over the floors with OrangeGlo polish and they look pretty awesome after all of that, but it’s quite a time consuming cleaning project. Anyone have any other suggestions!?

    Cyclist Kate,
I should use your strategy on myself when I’m struggling to get out of bed and think “I got up yesterday I should get up today!”

    lisa ,
When I first went back studying was a breeze and so were making A’s. Now I’m losing motivation and say to myself “Ehhh, I’ll just get B’s and things will be OK.” I ready to work again but still have lots more classes to go!

    runjess ,
We keep ours in the fridge and it seems to slow the process.

Whoa, look at you guys switching things up! Eggs seem to be the only thing that really keeps me going through the morning–too bad they’re not my favorite breakfast!

Just thought I’d share that lately when I wake up and am debating a workout, I think, “Kath worked out, there’s not reason I shouldn’t, too”. It works!

Have a good day. Do well on your quiz!

good luck on your quiz. I have my first nutrition class test this thursday, I’m nervous! I’ve been out of school for 3 years now and getting back into the studying mode is so hard, it’s like I have to retrain myself to retain knowledge! Did you have a hard time getting back into it when you first started back at school?

I love the Rudy’s bread, but I find that it goes moldy very quickly. Must be the lack of fake preservatives, etc.

every time i have eggs for breakfast i wish i had just had my oats. i guess you kind of solved that by having a little sweetness in the banana and yogurt. looks delicious and hearty too.

    Stacey M,
Sometimes we do, you just don’t know because you just see mine. But it always makes clean-up easier if we eat the same thing (egg skillet vs. oatmeal pot) and also he usually gets breakfast started while I’m finishing up getting ready, so if I have what he’s having I get my breakfast 50% of the way made before I come downstairs.

    Jenn & Kath,

Murphy’s Oil Soap does wonders for hard wood floors. I be the water/vinegar + the soap would be a *great* combo. The dirt tends to stick to the oil a bit, and it lifts it up. You buy it in a concentrated form, and mix with water. I like to mix it in a spray bottle, spray a bit as I go (a little goes a long way). Instead of using a sponge mop, I like to use the swiffer stick and just put rags on it instead of the swiffer pads (less waste, but then I can have a clean rag whenever one gets to dirty).

Your breakfast looked like someone you could get at a restaurant!

    Katelyn ,
I’m going to have to try the Murphy’s. I think that was another thing that was highly recommended when I asked a while back but I wanted to try plain vinegar for the cost/green aspects first. Thanks for the rec!

350-450 typically at the gym. Average is probably 400.
