You are here: Home / Travel / A Real New Yorker

April 2, 2010

A Real New Yorker

Well, not really. I’m so Southern. But I always feel so cool when I walk the streets of New York!! Like I really could live here someday. I love being in such an exciting place.

And I love working at Open Sky!!

IMG_9424 (640x427)

The team here is so cool and passionate and energizing. And I have a REALLY cool bowl the color of that wall that I’m going to have available in a few weeks. It’s really, really cool!!

I filmed my promo piece this morning and had lots of conversations throughout the office. This company is whirring as fast as I am!

IMG_9420 (640x427) IMG_9421 (640x427)

Andy says hi, ladies 😉

IMG_9477 (640x427)

I brought the office some Dakota bread to enjoy

IMG_9419 (640x427)

– and they supplied the Nuttzo and Cinnamon Vanilla Sunflower Butter. MY GOSH I miss that stuff. If I didn’t have a few more Naturally Nutty jars to open I would buy some more tomorrow.

IMG_9417 (640x427)

Mid morning snack

IMG_9426 (640x427)

At noon I headed out with Pam and Jen for a little Union Square action!

IMG_9428 (427x640)

IMG_9430 (640x427) IMG_9429 (640x427) IMG_9431 (640x427) IMG_9457 (640x427)

The Union Square Farmer’s Market is in full spring action!

IMG_9434 (640x427)

Dancing in the street – sooo NYC 🙂

IMG_9436 (640x427)

Samplez

IMG_9438 (640x427)

IMG_9440 (640x427)

IMG_9441 (427x640)

IMG_9443 (640x427)

IMG_9444 (640x427)

IMG_9445 (427x640)

Apple Raspberry Cider

IMG_9446 (640x427)

IMG_9447 (640x427)

IMG_9448 (640x427)

IMG_9452 (640x427)

IMG_9454 (640x427)

IMG_9451 (640x427)

IMG_9442 (640x427)

The COMPOSTING depository! So cool! Hold your compost on your countertop (like with this nifty countertop compost that I’ve been using and need to blog about soon!) and then dump once a week.

IMG_9455 (640x427)

So after some sampling, we decided to piecemeal a lunch from some of the best foodz

Bread

IMG_9461 (640x427)

Raw milk cheese

IMG_9464 (640x427)

And fresh, fresh organic greens!!!!

IMG_9450 (640x427)

Plus, a New York apple!

IMG_9470 (640x427)

And this amazing mint grape tea I found!

IMG_9460 (640x427)

Just a hint of sweetness from the grape juice

IMG_9476 (640x427)

IMG_9469 (640x427)

The greens were pre-washed and I mixed together sorrel (SO LEMONY!), spinach, frisee and arugula. I LOVE GREENS!!!! We swiped a little olive oil, sea salt and black pepper from a cooking station to dress them. I have got to upgrade my salt – this tasted SO GOOD!

IMG_9466 (640x427)

My portions of bread and cheese –

IMG_9473 (640x427)

Buffed apple!

IMG_9474 (640x427)

Delightful.

IMG_9472 (640x427)

I’ve got Open Sky meetings set up through the afternoon. Then I’m off to a fun dinner and MUST drink a Manhattan while I’m here!

Squeeee! I’m back in New York for three days for a stopover before flying back to Australia, and I can’t wait to copy your picnic lunch! I was in New York in December but it was so cold and wet… plus, this time I’ma gonna stuff my suitcase with all the nut butters I can’t get in Australia.

Speaking of, is there somewhere in New York where I can buy Naturally Nutty’s nut butters?

That market looks awesome. Hey Kath, any chance you’ll be doing another promotion with the Naturally Nutty Cinnamon Vanilla Sunflower Butter? I’m almost through the first jar of the 2-pack I bought from your last promo (it’s so good on toasted bread). One of my girlfriends tried it the day it arrived and is obsessed with it now – can’t stop talking about it – and would like to get her own but currently the full price + shipping is a little high for her grocery budget. If you could do another promo we’d both participate. I emailed Open Sky about this as well. Thanks!
