A Holly Jolly Christmas [Eve]

Merry Christmas from the Younger-Monson-Allen’s! And Malcolm!

IMG_1850 (640x427)

After a bit of relaxing with Lillian, the Christmas Cat…

IMG_1805 (427x640)

…I had a few nibbles of treats to tide my hunger…

A bourbon ball tasting with my mom (still can’t decide whose I prefer!)

A piece of Christmas tree cookie

IMG_1807 (640x427)

A bite of pumpkin fudge

IMG_1810 (640x427)

Around 5PM we put out some cheeses + homemade cheese straws for cocktail hour

IMG_1811 (640x427)

I had a taste of each cheese and a cheese straw ….

IMG_1812 (640x427)

Instead of alcohol, Karen and I made mocktails with soda and bitters, which might as well had vodka in them because they were so refreshing and delish!

IMG_1821 (640x427)

IMG_1820 (640x427)

For a light dinner in preparation for church and our Christmas Eve Party, I made a huge spinach salad with chickpeas, lots of veggies and raisins for some nourishment!

IMG_1817 (640x427)

Everyone had a little to tide us until our 9PM party

IMG_1819 (640x427)

Church was all carols and candles!

IMG_0273 (480x640)

IMG_0275 (640x480) (2)

When we returned home, we set up the party

IMG_1828 (640x427)

IMG_1829 (640x427)

Only to have half a table leaf collapse sending shrimp and cocktail sauce everywhere!! Sniff! Luckily iit was mostly salvageable with a little rinsing

IMG_1827 (640x427)

IMG_1830 (640x427)

IMG_1840 (640x427)

IMG_1845 (640x427)

IMG_1849 (640x427)

The meatballs were a big hit

IMG_1842 (640x427)

IMG_1860 (640x427)

IMG_1859 (640x427)

IMG_1861 (640x427)

IMG_1863 (640x427)

Rudy the Reindeer enjoyed quite a few shrimp

IMG_1832 (640x427)

So fun that Larbs’ Matt’s family could join us this year!!

IMG_1825 (640x427)

Malcom, Matt’s friend from high school, joined us for the evening and was feeling a little tipsy!!

IMG_1835 (640x427)

IMG_1836 (640x427)

IMG_1848 (427x640)

Eggnog roasting on an open fire. I only had a bit and gave the rest to Matt, but what I did drink was very bourbon and delish! [I would like to know why HFCS is a necessary ingredient for egg nog??!]

IMG_1856 (640x427)

During the party I had 2 small glasses of wine

IMG_1870 (427x640)

And two plates of goodies. Just enough to be satisfied and not too full.

IMG_1871 (640x427)

We are now singing carols around the piano and I must join in!!!

The Horizon Brand Organic Eggnog doesn’t have HFCS in it!! It’s so good, you should try it! Doesn’t taste any different in my opinion!

Merry Christmas, Kath!! Your Christmas Eve looks scrumptious and so traditional. Glad you applied the 5 second rule+rinsing to salvage the shrimpies 🙂

Merry Christmas!!! You need to get organic Egg Nog for no HFCS. It’s more expensive but worth it!

What a fun Christmas Eve! Candlelight service is one of my favorite Christmas Eve traditions for sure 🙂

Glad y’all could salvage the shrimp, and Kath, I must say I really like you “mocktail” habit, I think it’s great!
