A Festive Holiday Brunch with Crate & Barrel

This post is sponsored by Crate & Barrel

Foodblog-1824

‘Tis the season for entertaining!! We have several holiday parties in our calendar, and the dates are filling up fast.

Foodblog-1984

Crate & Barrel asked me to create a special holiday meal for some friends, and I decided that brunch would be a festive time of day to listen to some Christmas Bublé, eat quiche and sip wine before noon. So I gathered a few of my girlfriends and we had a wonderful time wining and dining the morning away.

Foodblog-2001

Here’s a video capturing the magic!!

For the brunch, Crate & Barrel sent me on a shopping spree to pick out beautiful items to dress up the table. Boy was that a fun shopping trip!!

Foodblog-1826

Here is what I chose:

Crate & Barrel Holiday Entertaining Favorites this !

  1. Runner
  2. Candlesticks
  3. Votives
  4. Marble cheese board
  5. Cheese knives
  6. Napkin rings
  7. Napkins
  8. Wooden serving bowl
  9. Copper servers
  10. Copper serving bowl
  11. Water glasses
  12. Plates
  13. Gold rimmed wine glasses

Can you tell I’m into gold, metals and copper!?

Foodblog-1943

Loved the glitsy mix of it all. Crate and Barrel is one of my all time favorite stores!

Foodblog-1911

Thank you Crate & Barrel for sponsoring this post. While this was a sponsored opportunity from Crate & Barrel all content and opinions expressed here are my own.

have you ever considered giving back to those less fortunate than you? i’m sure it’s fun to receive as many things as you do, but i think it would really give your entire blog / persona a refresh if you were to use your blog for the greater good. especially around the holidays!

I give back personally in many ways and also have donated a lot of the things I have acquired over the years.

Loveeeee Crate and Barrell! You’re so lucky to have gotten the chance to partner with them!!!!! Do you have any suggestions for giving back to your community? I like to donate my clothes and stuff like that but when it comes to volunteering I just get so overwhelmed and don’t know where to start. What are some of your favorite ways to get involved? You always have such great ideas!!!

Some people choose to give back without making it a public thing. In fact, most people give time and money this way. Frankly it’s a bit distasteful when people post that they donated this or gave that.

That quiche looks so yummy! Do you ever worry about stains on your beautiful table? I would want some sort of placemat or something under the plates so they don’t mark up the table, but that’s just me. I’m sure there are nice ones at Crate and Barrel! Love that store!

Worried at first, but it has typical wear and tear so we don’t worry too much. I’d rather use my stuff then feel the need to protect it all the time, ya know? They do have cute placemats too!

Too funny how things change, Kath! I was just remembering how you returned your restoration hardware table because you felt the dings and marks would drive you crazy? Do you think you’re becoming more relaxed about this stuff : ) ?

Permanent oil and water marks are not the same as little chips in a table that has a patina to it : )

Haha, I’m not sure I follow! ???? Commenter Stacey above was asking if you worry about stains on your table, and you said not too much. But in your response to me, it sounds like there are chips in the table, and you’re okay with those but not with stains and marks? ???? Everything looks beautiful!

I just find it so funny that several people in a row commented wanting to know how you give back to the community on a blog post about brunch with your girlfriends as if it’s even closely related at all?? I wonder why they care? Stuff like that bugs me. Anyway, nice party…looks like fun!

Maybe I’m being naive, but I didn’t think that it was a question that was out of line or out of place on this — and I don’t know what “trolls” you’re referring to, Kath. This is a time of year where a lot of people take stock of how lucky they are and consider giving back to their communities/those in their neighborhoods that are less fortunate, especially as the weather gets colder. Most of us are lucky enough to have enough that we can share it with others. Over the years, people have come to you for advice on such varied subjects as child birth, how to eat better, how to balance school and life, and how to best garnish oatmeal, and you’ve always been candid. I don’t think that people asking for more specific ideas as to how you get involved with your community is “troll”ish.

There is more behind the scenes that you don’t see Elizabeth, so that’s how I can tell. I don’t disagree with you at all – it is a nice time of year to give back and I do. I think giving is a personal topic. I just don’t think it’s really something I want to broadcast. And it’s also sort of a damned-if-I-do-damned-if-I-don’t. Can you imagine the comments about “bragging” if I did a post about ways I give back?

I can sniff out the trolls pretty easily, so it’s easy to just ignore them and let it roll off. But it’s not a very fun part of being a blogger!

I am sorry you have a troll problem, that must be upsetting! I do think that giving back is a good topic and I thought that I would have liked to read more about it on your blog, but I did not even consider that it would be considered “bragging”… may be if you could recommend causes in which you are involved without revealing the extent of your involvement, trolls will have nothing to pick apart! Happy Holidays!
