Good wine country morning to you!
My body could use a bit of a detox right now but……we’re in SONOMA. Gotta take advantage.
But before we do, we decided a run would help rejuvenate tired cells. We drove over to a state park here in Santa Rosa and had a gorgeous run around a lake.
We ran FAST too. Yay for no Cville hills
We covered about 4.3 miles in total (and got lost quite a bit)
We stopped for some quality coffee before going back to our hotel for the continental breakfast
Drink of the week: Cafe au Lait!
At the hotel I was thrilled to find a tub of full-fat thick PLAIN yogurt!!
I piled on about a cup with some fresh fruit, a tsp of jam and granola.
We are showering now and then the day begins! Not sure when I’ll see you again

Wow have so much fun! I’ve never been to Sonoma but have ALWAYS dreamed of going. Can’t wait to read about more of your adventures there!
Me too! I hope to make the trip…someday. For now, I’ll just sip wine at home and visit katheats! Haha
Have a wonderful day! I’m so jealous of all your adventures!
I love when hotels have good continental breakfast — there is nothing more disappointing to find a box of stale donuts and day old coffee waiting in the lobby
Enjoy your day!
Have fun! I can’t think of a better place to be.
Love the scenery! Enjoy your wine time
Oooh Sonoma! I’d love to be in California wine country right now.
Wowww that bowl looks so delicious and colourful! Nice job on the run – you deserved that breakfast!
I love how amazing fresh, light food tastes after a weekend or time of eating more rich and heavy items.
Beautiful breakfast!
Have fun Kath!
BEAUTIFUL sights! Enjoy your day
Full fat yogurt is the best after a nice run. Have fun on your adventures today!
Enjoy your day with lovely eats and wine, of course!
have fun in sonoma! hubby and i almost went but virgin america had such amazing deals we decided to fly rather than drive. enjoy!
ohh sonoma, i am soo jealous! looking forward to photos- enjoy!
I wish to visit Sonoma some day
*fingers crossed
Enjoy!!! We only made it to St. Helena, but would love to try Sonoma.
I feel you on the need to detox. Got back from Cali a week ago and immediately began a much-needed Cleanse.
Wish I were is wine country. Have fun-you can detox when you get home!!
runs on vacation are always so much better than runs at home! Exploring a new place makes the run fly by. Especially with coffee as a reward
Have fun!
Oh Sonoma! So jealous of your travels as of late. Have fun!
Je suis de la région de Québec, Canada… je te suis depuis presque qu’un an et j’aime beaucoup voir toutes les photos que tu mets sur ton site… surtout les plats que tu manges, cela nous donne de belles idées… Bravo à toi …
Merci!
Have so much fun! Sonoma is a dream!
Looks like a beautiful place for a run!
Enjoy your time in Sonoma with Matt
I could use a little Wine Country myself. Hold the wine. Enjoy your time with Matt!
Great tree pose!
So weird to see all these photos of where I grew up! Looks like those picnic area photos are in Howarth Park? I grew up just down the street! And the coffee shop is definitely Aroma’s! I spent a lot of time there when I was younger and still lived in the area!
Yeah, it’s funny to see photos of where I live. I live close to that park and spend lots of time running there. Can’t wait to see what you & Matt do in Sonoma. Sometimes I think the area where I live is so boring. It’s nice to get someone else’s perspective.
it’s so funny to know you are only an hour away from me! i live in Sacramento, ca and am a new (i think it’s been a few months now), but avid reader. if you have a chance i would recommended heading to Napa and checking out the Rutherford Grill. They have the most amazing fig wild rice! Have an amazing time enjoying Nor Cal!
I’m always amazed by people who get up early and run in order to feel refreshed. I usually opt for sleep instead!
We slept in, THEN ran
Have a great day, Kath. Sounds like a great hotel if they have offerings like full fat yogurt, fruit, and granola for breakfast.
I’d love to get to Sonoma sometime. For now though I’ll have to make do with the wineries in northwest Connecticut.
I recognize those nice, big CA oak trees!
Cafe au lait is my all-time favorite coffee drink – simple, adaptable, and plain good.
I am definitely loving waking up and working out before starting the day. It’s hard to get in the habit of doing, but once you start – voila. Awesome.
Cant wait to see what fun Sonoma brings to you two!
Fun! What beautiful pictures. I love that you and hubby run together.
Hope you have an amazing time in Sonoma!!! Love all of the pictures
Jen
Ahh runs are the best for rejuvenation, I took a good one this morning too!
I’m a recent follower and have LOVED living through you this weekend! Looks like you had/are continuing to have a blast
Thanks for being an inspiration…
Enjoy your vacay with Matt!
Wine country in the fall – what a fantastic vacation! It’s fun to live vicariously through you.
Sounds like a perfect morning to me!!!
I love the wine country…SO MUCH!!!!
I wish i could have extended my Food Buzz trip and taken an extra day or two for Napa or Sonoma
I have that same exact picture of me striking that pose. Only mine is in Yosemite. Twinsies
I’d be excited about plain yogurt, too! What a luxury in a world filled with artificial flavors, lol.
Agreed!
So funny that people might think of the sweetened yogurts as a treat … but I just think they’re gross now after years of eating plain. Give me homemade baked goods with real sugar and butter, and watch out, though!
Must have been a perfect run with such beautiful scenery and no hills!
Looks like you two are having a blast! Enjoy your day
Great to have met you this weekend!
Hope the run helped! I love getting lost in new places!…when I’m with someone else
How did you get up and do tree pose on that tiny pole??
Hope you are having a great time!
have a blast!! WE’ve been to Sonoma once.. I found out I was pregnant 3 days before we left :0
…. no wine tasting for me…
LOVE the Mondavi Vineyard… we still have a bottle ( though I’m sure it’s turned by now)
Enjoy!!
Enjoy the day, great idea with the run. You should have ran through the vineyards.
Good call on picking up coffee elsewhere. Hotel coffee is usually pretty gross.
Loving all your Cali photos!
Been reading for a couple months now and I love it! I’m from Sonoma county. Hope you’re enjoying the beautiful weather we’ve been having. Looks like you may have gone to Spring Lake. It’s a gorgeous run!
i love wine country, have a blast
I, too, get excited when plain yogurt if on offer. it’s the little things in life, right?
What gorgeous pics!!! I just realized that you live in Cville, which of course caught my eye because I am born and raised in Roanoke =) I went to VA Tech in Blacksburg, but now the hubs and I live in Charleston, SC near Erica =) I have family from Cville though and we love visiting there as well, it is beautiful, just like all of Southwest VA!
I just had to say hi – fellow Virginian!! yay =)
I love Santa Rosa. You should tell your beer loving husband to check out Russian River Brewery while you are there. They brew beer in wine barrels!!! It’s special!
Sonoma is definitely on this girl’s bucket list. we were in Marlborough (New Zealand) on the weekend and it was AMAZING. looking forward to hearing your wine suggestions!
awww, I’m so happy you went to Spring Lake! I walk there 3 times a week and I’ve definitely talked about your blog on my walks and now you’ve been there! So cool!
I would LOVE to go to wine country in California! Is there lots of hiking too?
