2 days off and guess who was ready to run!? Ready ready ready ready ready to run! It was overcast but humid when I set out. I saw a hot air balloon! Great start to another week.
Back at home I took my time taking a cool shower and drinking some ice water. And then dug into my overnight oats and leftover coffee – not a single dish to do!!
The overnight oats were made with Coach’s Oats. They had fabulous texture and soaked up lots of milk.
Yum yogurt. Yum Cville Cluster granola!! Best ever. Can’t get enough.
That blob of crunchy peanut butter was a sample of Nick, the Peanut Butter Boy’s new line of peanut butters. Stick to the roof of your mouth!
Refreshing iced coffee that went down way too fast.
One thing I hate about iced coffee: condensation!! It drips all over me and I hate it!! I need a sweater for my glass!
Getting’ my bike + bread on!

Super cute bowl! Love the ledge for the PB! Have a fabulous day! :]
I actually used to request a “double cup” when I’d get iced coffees from Starbucks. They’d look at me weird but I couldn’t take being dripped all over!
I woke up the same way this morning – READY to workout! My back is injured (slipped two discs) so I couldn’t run but I hopped on the elliptical for the next best thing and it felt SO good. I really struggled afterward between the oats/yogurt decision. I wanted oats but I wanted something cool – I should’ve thought to make overnight oats yesterday! Oh well, live & learn
Have a great day Kath!
PS – I happened to catch your “Comin’ Home, Comin’ Home” tweet and now that song is stuck in my head! Is the song why you tweeted it?
I’m still listening to the song on repeat!!
Sorry to hear about your back. Did you know Matt had a genetic slipped disc? He had a spinal fusion at age 21.
Haha – I just put it on on my Pandora! Such a good song
And oh my gosh – I didn’t know that! That must’ve been so scary! It gives me hope that he’s able to run now even after having gone through that! They kept telling me that genetics come into play with slipped discs – both my dad and grandfather had them but I didn’t really think anything of it. Glad he’s okay and able to be on his feet baking that delicious bread all day
His mom and grandmother had the same disc slip too. He was in pain for 2 years and then had the surgury. It was a total L4 L5 spinach…I mean spinal… fusion with cadaver bone and criss-cross screws. The first week was very very rough, but he was almost back to normal in 3 weeks and although he wore a back brace for 3 months, he lived the college life!
MAN. I can’t even imagine. I’m glad that it all worked out okay and that he was up and about so quickly! That must’ve been a huge relief for him. Any spine/back-related surgeries are so scary.
I(thankfully) haven’t been in enough pain with it to warrant surgery but it’s good to know that his was successful in case I have to do it down the road. I’ve heard SO many mixed things about surgery and even my doctors are telling me it’s not guaranteed to work so I feel so torn like, do I really want to go through that if it’s not even guaranteed to help?!
Hopefully I can just keep on keeping on without it but if I can’t, at least I have Matt’s situation to give me hope!!
That peanut butter looks delicious!
I had the same kind of morning! Woke up, ran and now I’m enjoying my coffee and oats. Both are hot.. Your cold breakfast looks like a wonderful post run meal. I need to start doing some prep work the night before!
Love your Buddha bowl—in my favorite color, no less!
As for the condensation issue, I’ve heard that those plastic (reusable) Starbuck’s cups eliminate condensation! I plan on buying one for myself to give it a try ; )
Just finishing up my iced coffee as well.
As a rule, I despise plastic cups (well, plastic anything really), but I admit that I love my double-walled plastic tumblers for my iced coffee. No drips! AND it’s stays cold (as I have to schlep mine along to work with me).
I have these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003L1V05E/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B001Q3L9NM&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1KJJ622NZBYMXKAD8H3E

Iced coffee and overnight oats scream “perfect summer breakfast!”
I totally agree on the iced coffee condensation… I need a bib! Was that “Ready ready ready ready ready to run” in the tune of the Dixie Chicks song?
Haven’t heard that one in ages!
Yup!
I still drink hot coffee in the summer.
Its like a mental block or something.
Love that glass! So glad you got a run in
I could be wrong but I think the glass sweaters are called coozies?
I really like those chalkboard glasses and I am pretty sure you said before but where did you get them?
World Market
Love that glass. I am going to have to try me some of these Coach’s Oats!!
Yay for 2 days off. ENJOY!
I have to start off my mornings with a cup of coffee!
Looks like a wonderful start to your day!
I second the Tervis Tumbler suggestion – no condensation! I’m keeping my eyes open for Coach’s Oats now too!
You need a Tervis Tumbler! Favorite glasses ever because I HATE condensation!
I practically collect Tervis tumblers everywhere I go! I love the medium size for hot OR cold coffee. It’s a perfect size to grip and you can buy a coffee lid to fit on top. You need to get yourself one (or 7!), Kath!
Yes! Love the Tervis Tumblers!
That peanut butter looks like really thick and crunchy! I like the crunchy part about it, but I am not sure how I would like the thick consistency.

I love that cup with the chalkboard! So cool!
Breakfast looks delicious as always!
I’ve seen a few people suggest it, but I wanted to as well – double walled tumbler! NO condensation ever.
I hate sweaty glasses too, so annoying, especially when I’m on my computer and it drips water all over my keyboard I’m trying to type on!
i remember PB boy! i had no idea he had his own line of nut butters!
Agree! I usually only get iced coffee when I’m traveling (by car) in the summer and it leaves my cup holder full of water from the condensation. So annoying!
I’m itching for my run later today too after 4 days off!
ooo….I spy my hands down favorite blue buddha bowl, which cheers me up on this back to work Tuesday!
Hope it’s a great one for you, Kath!
Years ago they made sweaters for glasses. I remember my mom had a set of metal glasses with little sweaters in the same color to go on each glass (although I suppose one could mix and match.) Seems like a lot of work though to put sweaters on glasses. They were into things like that in the Fifties though–deep into festive drink stirrers, coasters, and darling cloth cocktail napkins that needed to be ironed.
I woke up ready to workout too! Love that feeling
Have a good day at the bakery!
iced coffee must be drunk from a tervis tumbler-no drippage!
What a cute bowl! And I love the look of that peanut butter.
I totally agree with hating condensation on iced coffee! It drives me nuts.
condensation is a pain, isnt it! I sometimes wrap a paper towel around my cups OR even when I am at home, I drink iced coffee out of my huge (bonus!) Starbucks travel/go-cup because I dont get condensation in that one.
Have a great day
I always drink iced coffee and other iced drinks in my no sweat tumblers! They’re the perfect glasses for cold beverages:)
The only oatmeal I eat is baked oatmeal. But your photos are slowly changing my mind!
OH lawd, an iced coffee sounds so good right now!! I just ran too and it was sunny, hot, and HUMID! I’m surprised I was able to run almost the whole time!
Love my iced coffee and hate the condensation, too! So annoying!
I am so craving iced-coffee now. Be right back.
We live in a very busy hot air balloon area because we are on the side of the mountain that everyone wants to travel over on the rides. When the wind is right, they come right by our house and no matter how many times I see them, it makes me so happy and so excited!
Mmmm looks great! I love your bowl
ahh… your peanut butter blob made me weep. I haven’t had peanut butter in HOURS.
Another thing I LOVE about overnight oats is you don’t have to do a thing in the morning or scatter around for ingredients– it’s already there
Have a wonderful day!
You should invest in a Starbucks reusable glass with built in straw. I love mine and use it every day for ICed Coffee because it has a built in anti-sweat factor. The thing leaves no condensation. It’s perfect for ICed Coffee. THey really thought of everything.
Hi Kath,
I’ve been following your blog for a while and finally want to start commenting! Definitely agree about the Tervis Tumblers! We use them at our house for everything–coffee, juice, cocktails, whatever! They are also fun to collect–we pick up new ones when we travel!
Hi! I am actually also a “lurker”, though i read your blog daily for quite a while now
But as I read about the condensation problem i figured i might also throw my suggestion in the mix. I love this idea from Freaker, it was a project that got started from Kickstarter site and there is this guy that “invented” sweaters for beverages. You can look it up here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1466918613/freaker-usamaking-you-and-your-beverage-cooler. I actually supported his project, even more because of the hillarious videos he made
So, hope you find something to fight condensation with
And congrats on your blog – loooove it!
Hilarious!!
Sounds like a great way to start out the short week with a run! And that bowl of oats looks incredible… love the toppings you choose!
That bowl is way too cute!! And that granola looks seriously amazing
Cute bowl and the oats sound wonderful!
I saw that you had used Calorie King at one time for keeping track of your calories. I was wondering if you liked it? I saw another one MY Fit Pal as well do you know the difference between~ the two have way different calorie recommendations for me, I had entered it into both sites.
Thank you for your input!!
Heather
I don’t know a thing about My Fit Pal, but I loved Calorie King. I felt it was very accurate.
New nut butters? Sign me uppp!!!! I haven’t run in a loooong time, but soon I’ll be able too!
I hate condensation, especially after walking from cold indoors to warm outdoors: my glasses fog up like no other!
Your comment about needing a sweater for your glass reminded me of my Nutrition professor – she knitted the cutest little “sweater” with buttons on it for her water bottle! I’m sure you could find something like it on Etsy.
That bowl is genius–perfect for people like me who are often guilty of slurping up milk leftover in a bowl of cereal!
That bowl is too cute! Also I LOVE crunchy peanut butter so much and rarely see/buy it!
Oh yay! So Coach’s Oats worked well? I can’t wait to try! And… love the bowl!!!!! I hate condensation also. They new Starbucks cold cups are FABULOUS and don’t sweat at all. I love mine!
try a tervis tumbler. no sweating of the glass. living in the south they are a must.
Those Oats look delicious!
Check out Tervis Tumblers to avoid having your drink sweat all over you – they are awesome and I have never had one sweat on me. Accept no imitations!
