Iced.

IMG_2799Blog

2 days off and guess who was ready to run!? Ready ready ready ready ready to run! It was overcast but humid when I set out. I saw a hot air balloon! Great start to another week.

IMG_2807Blog

Back at home I took my time taking a cool shower and drinking some ice water. And then dug into my overnight oats and leftover coffee – not a single dish to do!!

IMG_2806Blog

The overnight oats were made with Coach’s Oats. They had fabulous texture and soaked up lots of milk.

CoachesoatsBlog

Yum yogurt. Yum Cville Cluster granola!! Best ever. Can’t get enough.

That blob of crunchy peanut butter was a sample of Nick, the Peanut Butter Boy’s new line of peanut butters. Stick to the roof of your mouth!

IMG_2801Blog

Refreshing iced coffee that went down way too fast.

IMG_2800Blog

One thing I hate about iced coffee: condensation!! It drips all over me and I hate it!! I need a sweater for my glass!

Getting’ my bike + bread on!

I actually used to request a “double cup” when I’d get iced coffees from Starbucks. They’d look at me weird but I couldn’t take being dripped all over!

I woke up the same way this morning – READY to workout! My back is injured (slipped two discs) so I couldn’t run but I hopped on the elliptical for the next best thing and it felt SO good. I really struggled afterward between the oats/yogurt decision. I wanted oats but I wanted something cool – I should’ve thought to make overnight oats yesterday! Oh well, live & learn 😉

    Have a great day Kath!

PS – I happened to catch your “Comin’ Home, Comin’ Home” tweet and now that song is stuck in my head! Is the song why you tweeted it?

I’m still listening to the song on repeat!!

Sorry to hear about your back. Did you know Matt had a genetic slipped disc? He had a spinal fusion at age 21.

Haha – I just put it on on my Pandora! Such a good song 🙂

And oh my gosh – I didn’t know that! That must’ve been so scary! It gives me hope that he’s able to run now even after having gone through that! They kept telling me that genetics come into play with slipped discs – both my dad and grandfather had them but I didn’t really think anything of it. Glad he’s okay and able to be on his feet baking that delicious bread all day 😉

His mom and grandmother had the same disc slip too. He was in pain for 2 years and then had the surgury. It was a total L4 L5 spinach…I mean spinal… fusion with cadaver bone and criss-cross screws. The first week was very very rough, but he was almost back to normal in 3 weeks and although he wore a back brace for 3 months, he lived the college life!

MAN. I can’t even imagine. I’m glad that it all worked out okay and that he was up and about so quickly! That must’ve been a huge relief for him. Any spine/back-related surgeries are so scary.

I(thankfully) haven’t been in enough pain with it to warrant surgery but it’s good to know that his was successful in case I have to do it down the road. I’ve heard SO many mixed things about surgery and even my doctors are telling me it’s not guaranteed to work so I feel so torn like, do I really want to go through that if it’s not even guaranteed to help?!

Hopefully I can just keep on keeping on without it but if I can’t, at least I have Matt’s situation to give me hope!!

As for the condensation issue, I’ve heard that those plastic (reusable) Starbuck’s cups eliminate condensation! I plan on buying one for myself to give it a try ; )

Just finishing up my iced coffee as well.
As a rule, I despise plastic cups (well, plastic anything really), but I admit that I love my double-walled plastic tumblers for my iced coffee. No drips! AND it’s stays cold (as I have to schlep mine along to work with me).

    I have these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003L1V05E/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B001Q3L9NM&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1KJJ622NZBYMXKAD8H3E

Years ago they made sweaters for glasses. I remember my mom had a set of metal glasses with little sweaters in the same color to go on each glass (although I suppose one could mix and match.) Seems like a lot of work though to put sweaters on glasses. They were into things like that in the Fifties though–deep into festive drink stirrers, coasters, and darling cloth cocktail napkins that needed to be ironed.

You should invest in a Starbucks reusable glass with built in straw. I love mine and use it every day for ICed Coffee because it has a built in anti-sweat factor. The thing leaves no condensation. It’s perfect for ICed Coffee. THey really thought of everything.

Hi! I am actually also a “lurker”, though i read your blog daily for quite a while now 🙂 But as I read about the condensation problem i figured i might also throw my suggestion in the mix. I love this idea from Freaker, it was a project that got started from Kickstarter site and there is this guy that “invented” sweaters for beverages. You can look it up here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1466918613/freaker-usamaking-you-and-your-beverage-cooler. I actually supported his project, even more because of the hillarious videos he made 🙂

So, hope you find something to fight condensation with 😉
And congrats on your blog – loooove it!
