We have visitors!! Remember our friends Kate + Nate from Charlotte!? They’re passing through on a road trip from New York and are spending tonight with us. We finally got to meet their baby, Liam! The last time I saw Kate she was 8 months pregnant!
We had a great time tonight and took them downtown – despite the rain the fact that nearly all of the downtown restaurants were closed!
We ended up at Rapture, which was a serendipitous event that ended in a pretty fabulous meal
I had a Cornbread Panzanella Salad and a Shrimp + Grits appetizer. The perfect combo of two small plates to make a meal.
These shrimp were AWESOME!! And the grits – made with gruyere!
Liams Eats Real Food – grilled cheese + oranges!
Kate and Nate brought me biscoff!! And the SPREAD!! Haven’t had it in ages – this stuff is so darn good! Had a few of these smothered in spread for dessert ; )
Pre-guest snack – a really great pear!
I think Matt is a wee bit freaked out about all the stuff that comes along with traveling with a baby. Hopefully Liam’s charm will win him over!

Liam is a cutie-pie! I agree that there can be a lot of stuff when traveling with a baby (I don’t have kids, but I am the eldest child in my family), but I think it’s all what you make it to be
Liam is so cute! I want one!*
Biscoff spread is the BEST! I was gifted with a jar and made dough balls out of it – you HAVE to try it. So. Good.
Oh wow!! Is the recipe on your blog?
It is! Link: http://www.sprint2thetable.com/2011/08/biscoff-cookie-dough-balls/
Hope you like them too! I keep a stash in the freezer for a quick snack/sweet bite.
thanks!
I’ve only had biscoff cookies on a plane..never even heard of a spread!
Liam is a cutie pie!
SO adorable.
I have never even seen biscoff spread. It looks wonderful!
i really want to minimize the ‘stuff’ but we’ll see what actually ends up happening
Ahhhh I love the Romances!! Sounds like a fun evening – wish we could have been there!
We talked about you!! (In a ‘miss her’ way
)
I’ve never heard of biscoff spread?!? Very interesting – and Liam is adorable!
I think his charm will work. He’s a cutie.
Oh goodness does it take a lot of “STUFF” hope Matt is doing well! ….What a healthy eater and a CUTIE!
Have fun!
What a cutie! Enjoy your guests Kath. It’s always fun catching up with old friends!
Haha I love the freaked-out look on Matt’s face– SO what my hubby would look like with a baby in his hands.
Dinner looked awesome– describe your salad! There was cornbread in it??
Yup!! It was great
Aww I’ve missed Kate + Nate!!! LOVE that last photo
Haha Liam is super cute! Loved the last pic
hahah the photo of Matt made me laugh!!
Liam is too precious!!! I love the first pic of him and his big bright eyes!! Too cute
Restaurants were closed from the rain?
Is Biscoff like peanut butter? That baby is too cute!
No for the holiday I think.
Yes, like peanut butter texture
Babies are a HUGE hassle. Unless their yours. Then every lost minute of sleep, every moment lugging around all their necessities, all the time spent catering to them somehow makes you the happiest person on earth.
Awww, The Blogstalker! Miss his hilarious posts – so fun you got hang out with them!
Don’t freak out Matt! Kids can be as simple or as complicated as you want them to be. Everyone is different! Just because they had a lot of stuff doesn’t mean YOU have to!
Yeah, don’t sweat the baby gear thing. I’ve got three kids, and have travelled with less and less stuff for each of them as babies, having learned along the way that what they really “need” is very little, albeit what they do need is likely more unwieldy than anything YOU need.
If you go to Belgium you should try the Biscoff/Speculoos version of Jenever, a liquor from which gin was later derived. Yum.
Agreed, Bridget. I went as gearless as possible with mine. Less is more. Mainstream baby magazines and people in general make you want to believe you have to have all this “stuff” to have a baby or to travel with one. When really, you don’t. Keep it simple, Kath, whenever the time comes for you guys!
I have yet to try Biscoff spread. Definitely need to try sometime.
I smell baby fever…coming.
Biscoff cookies…amazing. I fly Delta just for those. Kidding. Kind of
I haven’t had the spread yet, though. What am I waiting for.
So glad that you had time with your friends!
Travelling with a baby doesn’t have to be that complicated – I promise. With the first one, you carry everything (including the kitchen sink) with you. By the second one, you pare it right down to the necessities…and I promise, they are worth every darn bag/stroller/pack-n-play!
Ha ha, I was just going to say what Janelle and Bridget said. More kids = less gear. You realize that all they really need is mama. (OK, and a diaper.)
Biscoff spread is the best! I don’t know if I’ve ever had the cookies, but the spread… my god! SO GOOD!
i love combining small plates to make a meal. so many different tastes!
ahhhh! such a cute little baby… i have major baby fever and all of these cute pics around the blog world are not helping!!
The Biscoff Spread looks really creamy and good!

It’s true, kids have so much STUFF! haha
I just made a cornbread panzanella, it was delish
Awww what a cutie!
I’ve never heard of Biscoff…
The picture of Matt and Liam is priceless, love it! Looks like a fun night! I saw biscoff at the grocery store today and thought of you
That picture of Matt and Liam is hilarious!!
Haha, LERF!! Love it..he is so cute!
Those grits look completely amazing.
Liam is super adorable!!
When I was flying back from the Healthy Living Summit, my snack on the plane was Biscoff. I debated asking for more!! I don’t remember them being so good but they were DELICIOUS!
So funny-Matt looks likes he doesn’t know what to do with the baby.
BISCOFF SPREAD!?! That is absolutely amazing.
And haha – that last picture of Matt with Liam literally cracked me up. His face is priceless
That pictures of Matt and Liam cracked me up!! Too funny!
I had cheesy grits for the first time last year at a Bobby Flay restaurant in Vegas. It was fantastic and I can just imagine how perfect Gruyere would taste with it. Yummy!
I still can’t find Biscoff spread! I will buy out a store’s stock when I come across it, lol.
Liam is SO cute! I didn’t know Kate of Kate and Nate was pregnant! They used to be KERF regulars. Nice to see them make a cameo appearance, hehe. So cute.
I wonder if anyone would ever make a sweet Biscoff grits dish… It’d be just like your oatmeals?
For an indulgent breakfast, what about some biscoff and choc chips stirred in- oooh i can taste it now: melty bananas with caramel and choc!
my sister in law just brought me some biscoff from her delta flight – i wish it was the spread – a.k.a. speculooos!
Ha I love the expression on Matt’s face!
Liam is so adorable! Babies make everything more fun!
That pic of Matt & Liam is so adorable – and funny!
Liam is SUPER cute!
I love the idea of ordering two appetizers. I always forget to consider that option! I am all about having a bunch of different “tastes” at a restaurant and this is a great way to accomplish this!
That shrimp and grits looks amazing! And what a cute baby : )
Oh, my goodness. What a cutie!
I’ve been going through Biscoffs like it’s my job this week. And the spread keeps staring me in the face every time I go grocery shopping! I have yet to try it, thought!
Biscoff Spread?! Delicious! I’ve never tried that but I do enjoy the occasional Biscoff!
Love the Biscoff spread! It tastes just like the cookies only smooth. You keep expecting a crunch but it never comes.
I bought my first jar this past week and dipped my spoon in the jar the second I got home.
There is a $1.00 off coupon on their site right now.
Saving money=Win!
Great way to spend a day, with good friends.
Watch out – Matt looks like a natural with the Babe.
What a stinkin adorable little boy! :] those grits look so creammmy!
You’ve converted me to the Biscoff biscuits – I’m afraid to try the spread.
Looks like a Three Philosphers beer next to the spread? Good stuff!
On a totally random note, I know you are SUPER busy with the move but are you still planning on Home Clean Home Part II (with the cleaning schedule)?
Probably…but I don’t really follow a schedule so it’s been hard. I will have to see how I do in the new house first
Makes sense – I have a lot of trouble building routines around cleaning, so any guidance would be helpful!
Good luck with the move!
Hahahaa I love Matt’s face in the picture with the baby! Priceless!
I LOVE biscoff!!!! I thought I was the only person who looked forward to the biscoff cookies every time I flew somewhere. It wasn’t until recently that I saw it in our local grocery store. I also discovered the spread but haven’t had a chance to try it!
Liam is adorable – and that meal looks wonderful!
Thanks to reading you talk up Biscoff spread I spotted some this weekend and bought it without thinking twice. Big mistake. That stuff is incredible. I am in trouble!!
I’ve never had Biscoff spread, but I am very intrigued by it.
Priceless shot of Matt and Liam
My boyfriend’s name is Nate!!
