When You’re Up, You’re Up

I’m tuckered out – estimating I walked about 5 miles today. Too much for this stage of the game! I’m going to counter it by spending the next few hours on the couch : )

I met new-to-Cville Alicia for a walk and we looped all around town. She is about to start a PhD program at UVA! [This is us all freshened up before lunch – I was a sweaty mess after those first 4 miles!]

Foodblog-4366

Necessary refreshment while I showered. I didn’t want to make my legs walk back downtown for lunch, but driving and paying for parking was just not an option. I’d have to walk anyways!

Foodblog-4354

My mom said this morning when I was talking about this waiting game: “Do you have some girlfriends you could meet for lunch?”

Why actually I already had a lunch planned! A few pregnant friends, a mom friend, Alicia and I all got together for lunch at Eppie’s today. My friend Kate [who is due the day before me] didn’t make it because she might be having her BABY today!

Rosie, Jen and Me at 30, 32 and just-shy-of 39 weeks pregnant!

Foodblog-4365

Lynsie also joined us with Gabe and Declan.

Foodblog-4357

Lots of coloring going on! Parenting practice!

Foodblog-4358

I always flip flop between the Santa Monica salad and the veg plate so I got a hybrid today. Just now occurred to me that there wasn’t a star protein in this lunch – I should have gotten the black beans instead of the greens : )

Foodblog-4359

The salad is my fav with goat cheese, dates and corn

Foodblog-4355

And on the side I got sweet potato and collards

Foodblog-4360

And as always, the plate comes with their cake-like cornbread!

Foodblog-4361

Yum + filling!

Foodblog-4362

I have several bits of writing to do, but I am postponing them for a little R&R with my feet up. Mom also keeps telling me to rest!

I’m always so jealous of the cornbread at this place…I need to stop in Cville next time I pass through! We’re always in such a rush when we go through but I hope to do a weekend just there sometime.

I swear that your body is more likely to go into labor when you are relaxed.. hence all the times it happens in the middle of the night 😉

Lots of lovely baby bumps!! Colouring was one of my favourite activities to do with my mum when I was little. It would keep me entertained for hours, and it’s been AGES since I coloured anything. Maybe it’s time to channel my inner 4 year old….. 😉

Have you tried taking a magnesium citrate supplement? You could be deficient, which would mess with your sleep. You could try Natural Calm (tastes horrible) or just get a pill.

Hey Kath! I absolutely love using Greek yogurt to sneak in some protein, but I wasn’t sure about what kind was best. My local grocery has the “Greek Gods Yogurt” brand that offers both “all natural” and “Low fat” plain yogurt. I always get plain so that I have the option of adding other flavors to it, and I usually buy the “Low fat” kind. Unfortunately the store did not have that kind, so I was left to buy the “All natural” yogurt, is this kind that has more fat in it make it unhealthy for me? Or are those fats a good thing?

Low fat is great, and full fat is fine too – you will probably just eat a little less of it because it’s filling.

Ok, so still can’t stop reading and looking up recipes! Especially the oatmeal ones. Made the hot oatmeal this morning and bought chia seeds today to use in the future! Also, love some collards and cornbread, I live in NC and there is nothing like southern fare:)

The salad looks yummy. What kind of dressing did you have for it? I may have corn and goat cheese only and find a substitute for dates as I do not eat dates. I drool over your cornbread!… Good luck to Alicia on his PhD program!
