Too Much Of A Good Thing

We went out tonight with a few Winthrop friends to “celebrate” the start of classes. I had SO MUCH FUN!

Afternoon Snacks

Tea, cereal, crackers, almonds…

IMG_0224

And then I spoiled my appetite with more cereal! Darnit!

IMG_0225

Dinner tonight was unplanned but ended up awesome:

Creole Shrimp + Chorizo Frittata

IMG_0228

IMG_0230

In the whole recipe:

  • About 20 frozen shrimp
  • 1 small log chirozo
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup okra
  • 1/3 cup corn
  • Creole seasoning
  • Salt + pepper

IMG_0232

+ bread with olive oil!

IMG_0233

I wasn’t very hungry b/c I spoiled my appetite so I just had a small piece + bread –

IMG_0231

On tonight’s agenda was a Winthrop + Wine Gathering at a wine bar. We had so much fun! Between the 3 couples + more, we polished off 5 bottles – here are 3 of ’em, in order of deliciousness!

IMG_0246

My wines:

(Continued…)

Our bottle – it was bad!!

Me and Victoria in ISO camera mode –

IMG_0260

More wine!

  IMG_0272 IMG_0278

And we had Charcoal crackers for a snack!! They were so good and buttery – (and yes, real charcoal and it was good). I ate about HALF of these 🙂

IMG_0277

MORE WINE!!!!!!!!!!! It was a fun night 🙂

IMG_0279  IMG_0280

Here’s my midnight snack – not sure if I remember eating this!

IMG_0282

We’re nibbling on Kashi Crackers and watching Conan – and had a great night!!

Night!

I think that looks like just about the right amount of a good thing! I had to look up charcoal crackers because I’ve never heard of such a thing. Good luck with the start of classes!

Hey, if you don’t remember eating the snack, it never happened right? 😀

Wow! Dinner looks delish- you looked like you had fun, indeed! A quick question about your camera, you didn’t use the flash? Your pictures turned out great w/out flash. How did you set it up that way? Whenever I try to take pics in the dark w/out flash, it turns blurry or way too dark to see anything.

I’m so curious about those crackers, too!

    Glad you had fun!

I can’t believe they used charcoal in the crackers. Interesting fact about it though… if you mix a charcoal tablet (it’s an absorbing agent for “bad” materials and gas) with water, it can act as an anti-toxin and help in a poisoning type of emergency… with dogs that is. Not so sure about people.

Hmmm… I wonder if charcoal crackers would have been good to use for the s’mores we made on New Year’s Eve? After all, we sure made a lot of charcoal marshmallows.

What a fun night! I have NEVER heard of charcoal crackers; they look so cool!

I must admit, I have often ‘not remembered’ eating something!! And, I can’t say I could always blame it on the wine! Hey, if you don’t remember, I say it didn’t happen 🙂

I’ve never heard of charcoal crackers, I’m not sure if I’d like them. I took charcoal pills one time for digestion issues and, um, they had an interesting effect. 🙂

I teach digital photography so I have to chime in about ISO on your camera. It’s not a mode, it’s actually the speed of your “film” (image sensor). It affects how your sensitive your camera is to light. The higher the ISO (most go up to 800) the easier it is to take pictures in low light. If you’re in a really bright setting, a low ISO (like 100) is good.

    kristin ,
It’s just this awesome camera! My old Sony looked horrible with no flash but I was shocked when these photos turned out OK. I just had it on Auto settings with the flash off, so the camera did the magic.

    Re. Charcoal crackers,
The server said they had a teeny amount that was considered safe – kind of like that gold fleck liquor? I probably wouldn’t want to eat them on a regular basis. They had an initial taste of charcoal and then the aftertaste of a buttery cracker. They were quite good!

    Joanne ,
I told the server perhaps it was good to have with alcohol to absorb the toxins!

    Betsy in Pgh,
Thanks for the info! I still need to read my manual…
