I’ve been meaning to ask you how the spider traps are working. We had a HUGE spider on the loose in our kitchen and I finally met face to face with it over the weekend and it wasn’t pretty. I’ve killed two more smaller ones since then, too, and I’m officially done with them. Have those traps helped?

They haven’t done a thing 🙁 I bought some Hobo ones and the package said they were only out west, so maybe it’s the wrong kind of trap? Or maybe the traps scared them away? I haven’t seen many since that weekend

Hey Kath! I was wondering about the sugar contents to your breakfasts – I had a very similar meal to this one yesterday morning (pancake, natural peanut butter, banana and some homemade jam) and it was just too sweet for me. It also seems like the toppings on all your oats are relatively sugary. Do you get a good boost from the sugar (or are they just not as sugary as they seem?)? I just feel like I would crash mid-morning – usually I stick with an apple and a piece of toast or some oats with a handful of nuts and half a teaspoon of maple syrup. Thanks, and happy birth week!

    Reply
    • KathEats says

      October 24, 2011 at 4:02 pm

Well I do use a variety of products that are traditionally sweet – but I use them really sparingly. The jam, for example, was probably only a teaspoon. The oatmeal was unsweet except for the banana, which I consider more of a complex carb. The Biscoff is a little sweet, but I also only used about a teaspoon of that. And I didn’t use any maple syrup or honey or sugar in my tea or anything.

So I guess what I’m saying is I think of this breakfast more as a whole grain / fat / carb breakfast rather than a sugary one that would maybe have been french toast made with white bread and maple syrup.

Happy early birthday Miss Kath! Your breakfast looks like a fun and delicious way to start your celebratory week off right. I seriously need to get my paws on a jar of that Biscoff. What does it taste like? Is it peanutty buttery or does it taste more like a cookie? Oddly enough, I’ve never even had one of the cookies even though I’ve flown Delta many times (that is the airline that serves them, right?)
