The Non-Dinner

My lunch was pretty heavy in fat (healthy from the salmon/hummus and unhealthy-ier from the fries/butter), and it kept me full all afternoon – and evening! The husband brought home some baby bok choy and veggies to make a stir-fry with last night’s leftover chicken marsala, but around 8pm when we were watching the first season of Arrested Development (first timers!) I asked if he was hungry and he said only a little and I wasn’t much at all so we decided to postpone dinner and just have snacks tonight.

He made a plate of Thanksgiving goodies.

And I decided at 8:45 to have a snack of yogurt and fruit, which I figured were the food groups I was lacking most today.

So I had an orange –

And a Fage Total (about half a cup) with pumpkin butter + granola + almonds. The husband brought home the Fage Total tub from EF because it’s expired (but I learned a while back that yogurt lasts forever!). I’ve never had the Total before. It was actually too thick for my liking. Almost like a dessert! I like the flavor and consistency of the 0% more, but this was still fun to have.

Plus tea –

(These photos were a fake out because I really ate on the couch!)

I finished my paper just before 7pm (whew!) and just have to proofread it tomorrow. It’s 8 pages of “what I learned in this course” for Foodservice. I sure hope I did it right!

I have to spend tomorrow studying Organic all day (quiz tomorrow and test on Friday) so that won’t be fun. And we’re expecting rain. But at least we’ve got one more weekend day!

I think I’m going to go take a bath and start a new book.

G’night!

Even thicker than the other Fage? Is that even possible? 🙂

What book are you planning on starting?

Hi – since you love your nut butters as well, I just wrote the following to Jenn at eatliverun and thought you might be interested: Naturally Nutty is offering 8% off its nut butters and has a new one, Chocolate Butter Toffee. They sent coupon code SAVE8 if you go to their site and have an interest. But you might know this since I found out about their peanut butter from your blog.

I’m currently watching the first season of Arrested Development too! I’m on the second disc right now, and so far I love it. I mostly love Jason Bateman and Will Arnett.

If you guys aren’t current 30 rock watchers, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend it!

Your bowls look so small compared to the spoon or is that just the way the pic came out?
Pumpkin butter with yogurt is my absolute fave right now!

One of my fave shows 🙂 I really hope they come out with a movie!

I have a hard time imagining something thicker than Fage 0%… sounds pretty cool!

I agree with you that non 0% Fage could be dessert. the side by side cups (with strawberry jam, honey ect) come in regular and 2% and the strawberry ones are out of this world so I’ll occasionly eat 2% and it’s beyond yummy. Even the plain bites seem sweeter than my regular Fage.

quick poll – who pronounces it *Fa-ya* and who, even after reading the side of the package, feels silly saying anything other than age+F?

I’m also curious about the yogurt lasting forever tidbit – is that true? Any exceptions?

What book are you starting? I love to read, so I’m always looking for recommendations! :o)

yogurt definitely doesn’t last forever!! it will go moldy a week or two after the expiration but you’re safe until then.

    Molly ,
I am starting Eleanor something. I’ll have to get back to you on the title/author. Look for it in upcoming reading posts!

    AppleC ,
Oooo thanks!! Between using up my Butter Toffee (with the help of Karen!) and having a few bites of Barney Butter left, I need to get at least one!

    Julie ,
We’re getting into 30 Rock as well, but we need to watch the first season on DVD too!

    Shelby + Jess,
I was being sarcastic about it lasting forever, but I recently ate some yogurt that was over a month expired and was kind of worried and many readers commented that the bacteria in yogurt give it a longer shelf life and that what really goes “bad” is just the texture. I’ve had a moldy yogurt before, but I’m not worried about it if it looks and smells OK.

    Runeatrepeat ,
Those are the tiny versions of my bowls – they’re only about a half cup each. So the spoon was huge!

    emmy ,
I totally call it cage with an F!! Only fa-ya if I’m with a stranger 😉

    MizFit ,
I’d love a “What Miz eats” post!

Here in California, we’re lucky if it’s overcast. I swear, we become more of a desert every year. Enjoy the rain!
