The Nest

IMG_1557

My gosh, something in my brain has been tripped. It could be nesting or it could just be a phase. Since my house is already pretty uncluttered and clean, I’ve become obsessed with all things HGTV. I went to apply for Curb Appeal and was sad to find out they are not accepting apps for Va : ( I researched the cost of finishing an attic. I’ve considered going to buy a bunch of plants for our front steps. Obviously we are not going to do any renovations anytime soon – but I can’t help but wish for them!

IMG_1549-2

Perhaps I should just focus on making good meals for a while!?

IMG_1555

Bowl of greek yogurt topped with nectarine, giant blackberries, chia seeds, granola and sunflower butter.

IMG_1550-2

Plus a glass of coffee concentrate mixed with 50% concentrate, 25% water, 25% milk. It tasted like chocolate milk!

Punky says hi and it’s so humid out there she can’t feel her fur!

After admitting on here that I hadnt had a nectarine before, I’ve now tried them and bought them the past 3 weeks!

Love nectarines! Much better than peaches in my opinion…something about the crisp skin I think. It reminds me of biting into an apple!

Is the coffee concentrate something you make yourself or purchase? I’ve been thinking about making my own overnight iced coffee. It’s way too hot here for the regular stuff!

It’s homemade – I wrote about it in yesterday’s “Hard to Concentrate” breakfast post

You and my mom both. She’s always entering giveaways and what not on the HGTV site. Ladies can dream 🙂

I know Boo Boo Kitty isn’t yours but with the heat do you ever allow her in the house? Or at least leave her some water? I feel so bad for animals whose owners leave them outside all the time when it’s blazing outside.

I think it’s pretty common to go through phases of wanting to renovate your home. I know I have gone through many of those… I also go through the wanting to just move phases too! 😉

I feel hot just looking at those pictures of the sunshine spilling in. Even at 8am it’s almost unbearable to be outside! Enjoy that icey cafe 😉

Hahah I tried gardening and some handy work around the house, but I ended up deciding that I should probably just stick to making tasty food 🙂

I love that it’s summer and stone fruits are in season – nectarines and peaches are my favorite! Also, I’ve never heard of coffee concentrate but if it tastes like chocolate milk then it sounds good to me!

I tried “overnight iced coffee for the first time today. I bought some local beans at the Farmers Market yesterday, and the guy selling them told me the perfect ratio for the French Press to cold brew it overnight. It was SO good this morning- and I loved that it was waiting for me!!

It’s been so hot and dry here, we’re leaving out bowls of water for neighborhood cats and strays! My husband doesn’t want me feeding them, and I understand that, but I can’t stand to think of them suffering from thirst in this weather. I’m glad Pumpkin has a home and good neighbors.
