The Lone Ranger

IMG_7138 (800x533)

Last night I tentatively planned on having a yogurt + cereal bowl for breakfast, but this morning cold milk was calling my name (thirst from my sodium soup!?). I decided on a mix of cereals:

IMG_7136 (800x533)

The mix:

  • About a cup of Oatios
  • About 1/3 cup GoLean Crunch
  • About 1/4 cup Mix  My Granola
  • Medium banana
  • ~3/4 cup soy milk?
  • Sprinkle flax

IMG_7139 (800x533)

No coffee because I’m meeting a friend at a coffee shop at 10AM! Can’t wait to get a big cup!! It’s weird how I am obviously addicted to caffeine but I don’t crave it how you would expect. I don’t get jittery or feel sleepy without it, but it’s more of a mental thing – I just WANT some coffee. It’s almost more like a craving for the coffee flavor itself – like a craving for sweet, salty, chocolate – than it is about the caffeine. Weird!

Anyways, I’m excited!

I love cold cereal and it is one of the things about being gluten free that I don’t like. I have tried a few of the cereals available and don’t really like them that much. They are all pretty much void of nutrition and taste. 🙁

I am totally addicted to coffee! The taste, the act of drinking it, the caffiene, the warmth – everything! I just tried a wonderful tasting pumpkin spice coffee from Great Harvest this morning, too!

Coffee is the same for me… I love it in the morning, but I’m usually fine if I don’t get it. I just like the taste! Which must be why I sometimes enjoy a cup of decaf after dinner too…

I love the taste of coffee things too. I don’t drink to much because the caffeine affects my stomach. But I love the flavor so I often get decaf.

I love that you mix cereals. I never want cereal because it’s the same taste in every bite. Maybe mixing them would mix it up (pun intended).

I feel the same way you do about coffee. I love it, love the taste and really crave it, but not for the caffeine purposes! Unfortunately, it doesn’t love me that much (I suffer from reflux when I drink too much), but then I back off for a while until things calm down 🙂

Yep, I’m the same way about coffee. I gave it up for over a year in 2007-2008 and the one thing I missed wasn’t the caffeine. It was the delicious taste and smell of coffee – rich and roasty.

Do you (or does anyone) heat up milk when they have milk and cereal so it’s like a combo of a warm breakfast and a cold/crunchy one? I don’t drink milk straight so I never do milk and cereal (instead it’s yogurt messes all the way) but for some reason, warm almond milk and cereal sounds really yummy.

I completely agree! I just love the taste of coffee. Okay, maybe 3% of the time it’s the caffeine I need/want but mostly it’s just the warm bevvy with such rich flavor that I’m lookin’ for! At night, I’ll sometimes brew some decaf 🙂

Your thoughts on coffee remind me of smokers talking about the ritual of smoking. Good thing caffeine doesn’t kill you! (unless you drink a RIDICULOUS amount). I totally have a ritual of tea in the morning when I’m at work, but don’t need it when I’m at home. Strange, huh?

    Hallie,
I’ve done that before, but I don’t think it’s quite as good for some reason.

    Joelle,
    They are not my favorite…

    Chelsea,
Good point. It is all about the ritual!

    jenn,
Yes, you can use regular ground coffee. Coarsely ground is recommended, but I use all kinds.
