The First 3 Hours

IMG_1506 (1024x768)

We were slow getting up this morning, but we both agreed at breakfast we were so glad we went ahead to the gym early – so much done before 8am! We ended up biking there in the dark. It was 44* and I was HOT when we got there. 44 is warm compared to the teens we’d be riding in. I did 30 hard minutes on the Stepmill and we were on our way home. I skipped any lifting because my shoulder muscles are very sore – I think from locust pose from yesterday’s Yoga For Runners?? (Actually, I am getting a shoulder massage as I type from the husband!)

Since we were short on time, I made today a cereal day. But I used yogurt as my base.

The mix:

  • ~1 cup TJ’s Euro plain
  • ~1/2 cup each Quaker Oatmeal Squares + Kashi GoLean
  • ~2 tbsp wheatberries
  • ~1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 large banana
  • Drizzle maple syrup
  • Spoonful Barney Butter

My only complaint was that it wasn’t warm!

IMG_1503 (1024x768)

I had green tea to avoid the double French press rush.

I’m off to Biochem. We’ve got a quiz on the 20 amino acids, their abbreviations and structures. I was amazed at how fast I learned them last night with flashcards and some word tricks – like the Tyrosine structure looks kind of like a brontosaurus and sounds like Tyrannosaurus Rex!

See ya for lunch.

I can’t believe biking in the 40’s was “warm”. Best of luck on your quiz today…word tricks were the only way I could ever memorize. 🙂

I always hated that part of biochem! As if you couldn’t just look it up in the real world. I always used nonsensical acronyms to group them by property, like AGGSST or something.

Kath- Mnemonic devices work SO well! I still remember my fave one from HS- “My Brother George Has Eaten Nine Cheese Pizzas”. The first letters all correspond to the countries in Middle America in descending order! Sounds silly, but 10+yrs later I can recall them at a moments notice (not that I’d ever NEED to, but it can be fun cocktail party banter!) Good Luck on your quiz!

    Jennifer ,
We have tons to do in all the other parts of our city. Just not uptown. You should come down sometime and stock up on all of our “dirt cheap” goods.
