Super Soaker

Guess who went for a RUN this morning!!!!!!!!

Matt and I stayed up really late last night totally re-wiring our internet/cable/TV area. My computer’s wireless card isn’t reliable and I’d been using a cord tucked under the rug. But it was still visible peeking out from the sides of the rug and drove me nuts! I asked myself: “What would Better Homes & Gardens do?” Fix it, of course!

Luckily there were already holes in the floor for previous cable cords and we were able to get the ethernet cord to run out one and in another so now the cord goes through the basement ceiling instead of through our living room.

BLOG-9978

The only problem is I think we damaged the cord ends because now it is no longer working!! D’oh!

We also moved our modem and cable boxes to the other side of our entertainment center so we could reach them easier with the remote control. Simple fixes for big problems.

BLOG-9967

So moral of the story is, I went to bed late but still got up to run! Wheeeeeeeeee!

4.0 miles in the morning dew. And boy was I soaked when I returned!

But I found Matt on the porch – sipping a minty iced coffee!

IMG_9956Blog

After a quick shower, we made a quick breakfast –

IMG_9947Blog

IMG_9951Blog

Cinnamon Chip with smashed banana, jam, sunflower butter and granola. YUM!

IMG_9948Blog

That iced coffee was SO GOOD!

IMG_9954Blog

IMG_9946Blog

Today is the first day of employee training at the bakery!!

Long term, Matt is going to work mornings and I’m going to work afternoons, alternating with Karen as soon as she’s feeling better. This works well for my blogging schedule [since breakfast + lunch are important for me!] and will allow me to work on the blog + projects in the AM and the bakery in the PM.

But the next 3 weeks are filling with training and such that will require me to be there pretty much full-time. That’s ok!

Look for a midday entertainment post and I’ll be back this afternoon with lunch!

Love that you got up to run. I keep meaning to get up and run before I get started with my day, but I tend to wake up hungry for breakfast, or I want to just relax. I need to get back in the habit!

That breakfast looks delicious. I love how you’re always changing things up and trying new combinations. It makes meals more fun, huh? Good luck with bakery training!

Morning workouts are so invigorating! I love that feeling that you have all day of accomplishment, instead of that feeling all day of anticipating a workout.

Iced coffee is my personal drug. I even drink decaf, because my body hates caffeine. (It’ll give me a paralyzing migraine.)

I am so excited for you and opening your bakery! What an exciting adventure!! Will you guys be shipping items when you open? I was wondering about the granola?? I just found out I have major sensitivites to certain foods that were causing some major troubles. I am finding it hard to find stuff without these ingredients~ but you said walnuts and I can have walnuts.

Hi Kath, I love your blog and am inspired to eat more whole foods. I do pretty well but eat protein bars as a snack at work. Can you recommend a whole food that I can eat on the run while waiting tables? A piece of fruit hasn’t been enough.

    Thanks!

I serve as well and I tend to bring snacks with good protein/fat content and a piece of fruit. My favorites are apples or grapes (easy to eat on the move), almonds, string cheese, homemade granola bars, PBJ half sandwiches, or some chicken breast or deli turkey slices. We also have a closed kitchen, so sometimes I’ll bring some greek yogurt that I can slam real quick with nobody seeing! I know I’m not Kath, but I thought maybe I could help too 🙂

I think it’s unfair to judge them like that. I’m sure they decided together which tasks to take on, now and before. Kath obviously makes money with her blog, so she will need time to do that! If she wouldn’t blog that often because she would have to work full time at the bakery from now on people would start on her for that. Blogging takes a lot of time, we all enjoy reading her blog. Give her a break! It will be hard enough for her to juggle all her tasks at the moment.
