You are here: Home / Charlottesville / Still Warm From The Sun

July 16, 2010

Still Warm From The Sun

First we biked up hills.

Then down hills.

It was exhausting. And hotter out today!

IMG_0057 (640x480) (2)

Got stopped by trains. Small town life!

IMG_0112 (640x480)

IMG_0113 (640x480)

Then we toured the GYM!

IMG_0056 (640x480) (3)

Which has an infinity pool on the roof

IMG_0058 (640x480) (3)

And was also SUPER expensive. Not sure if I’m going to join!!

Then we went to Whole Foods – to test the waters!! I drooled on everything…

IMG_0061 (480x640) (2)

Clearly Jenna had beat me to the store..SOLD OUT of Carrot Cake Larabars!

IMG_0062 (640x480)

Then we met Miss Bella Eats for lunch!! She’s the best – and takes AMAZING food photos!!

IMG_7440 (640x427) (2)

She took us to Blue Ridge Country Store on the downmall – a charming little old fashioned store with a Whole Foods worthy salad bar!!!

IMG_7437 (640x427)

IMG_7434 (640x427) (2)

I built this masterpiece

IMG_7435 (640x427)

And drank this tea, honestly

IMG_7436 (640x427)

And for dessert, we ate Andrea’s blackberries picked from the bush just hours before. So fresh, juice and still warm from the sun.

IMG_7431 (640x427) (2)

Went to a house appointment ….saved the best for last 😉

We stopped into Arch’s for GOOEY BROWNIE!! Grasshopper (minty) + Chocolate Cake Moo Cow Lite ice cream swirl (I don’t even know what that means except it’s light in calories and fat) with gooey brownie batter like topping. Nothing other than amazingness. We debated our housing options.

IMG_0099 (640x480) (2)

IMG_0102 (480x640)

IMG_0103 (480x640)

IMG_0108 (480x640)

Then we verbally signed a lease on our dream cottage!!

Just check out this porch:

IMG_0092 (480x640)

A Craftsman Bungalow (which I have always DREAMED of living in!) with hardwood floors,  beadboard, beautiful paint colors, a killer front porch (rocking chairs included!), an awesome deck with fenced in yard and a vegetable garden!! A cute interior. 3 small bedrooms, 1.25 baths (my big sacrifice). It’s not as close to downtown as I would have wanted (2.5 miles) but it’s totally bikable (we biked it 4 times!) and in a really nice, cute charming neighborhood dotted with bungalows. It’s also lacking closet space big time, but has tons of storage in a nice basement and one car garage. Its charm and yard won us over! Moving in July 26 or 27!!

More later! Off to celebrate.

Congrats on finding a place to live in Charlottesville! I lived there for about 8 months back in 2007. I LOVE Charlottesville. There are so many things to do! You must go to the Market on Saturday mornings and get some fresh, hot donuts! You should also try the samosas from The Shebeen, a South African restaurant. And pay a visit to the Bellaire Market. I used to stop by there and pick up a sandwich for picnic food when I would go hiking off of Skyline Drive!

Awesome! I’d LOVE a front porch like that one day– and I absolutely adore Craftsmen-style homes. So cool that you’re going to be in Cville! I live in Lynchburg and my boyfriend’s family lives in Cville so we visit often (I particularly like to stop by that Wholefoods ;). Can’t wait to check out your Great Harvest! Definitely looking forward to it opening. Congrats on finding a place 🙂 (and WHY have I never been to Arch’s? My goodness!).

Kath! I love your blog–Alice Cross introduced me to it a few years ago. You are going to really enjoy living in Charlottesville. I’m working here this summer, and it has been wonderful. In fact, I think I might have seen you and Matt today? Biking down Main Street? I am going to add some restaurants to what I’m sure must be an ever-growing list for you: Blue Moon Diner, Mas, and Orzo. Congrats finding a house! I hope the move is smooth and that you enjoy the end of the summer.
