Made with Caribe Starfruit Limeade juice, this Starfruit Limeade Margarita is easy to make fast but tastes like it was freshly pressed!
Tomorrow we get to say “May the 4th be with you” and then it’s Cinco de Mayo! May and September are two of my favorite months because the weather is warm but not hot and generally sunny (KNOCK ON WOOD!) I welcome May flowers with open arms.
Starfruit Limeade Margarita
Recall that I drank all the virgin margaritas last year when I was pregnant. I like a tart cocktail, so please bring on the lime juice and salt. I really didn’t miss the tequila because I am particular about which kind of tequila goes into my marg. Nothing with any tint of yellow please. Only white! (I wish I was a tequila connoisseur enough to tell you what the difference is, but I just know white > yellow!)
This is the smiling face of my intern Emily, who has been working with me this spring as she wraps up her nutrition program and heads into her dietetic internship this fall. Fact about Emily: she likes margaritas!
About Caribe Juice
Another fun fact: Emily is married to, Luis, the owner of a startup cold-pressed juice company, Caribe Juice. (Fun fact #3 – they had their wedding at the Clifton Inn just like us!) Emily met Luis while serving as a brand ambassador for the company while he was getting his MBA through Darden’s business school. Emily has shared some juice with Thomas and me this spring, and we LOVE them! The Starfruit Limeade is my fav, and Thomas is nuts over the Passion Fruit!
Luis is a Dominican Republic native who struggled to find the unique flavors of the Caribbean when he was attending the University of Miami for undergrad. Caribe was born out of a need to offer exotic and nutrient dense juices to US consumers, while also building and supporting small farmers in the Dominican Republic.
His exotic cold-pressed juice line consists of Passion Fruit, Guava, Acerola Berry, and our margarita recipe inspiration, Starfruit and Lime. Each juice is blended with cane juice, not to be confused with cane sugar. Cane juice is the nutrient-rich cold-pressed water that comes before any of the processing to produce cane sugar.
Emily told me that the Caribe juices make amazing cocktail mixers just as they are, and she recommended both tequila and rum. We decided to make a Starfruit Limeade Marg to welcome summer to Cville.
Starfruit Limeade Margarita
To prep the margarita we used honey on the rim of the glasses and dipped them onto a plate filled with sea salt.
We used one bottle of juice plus two shots of white tequila, split between two glasses with lots of ice and extra lime for garnish.
I obviously do not make many cocktails at home because I have no idea where the ole cocktail shaker was, so we just used a mason jar! #multitasker
Pour, shake, and top with a lime slice. With just two steps and two ingredients – simple as can be.
Starfruit Limeade Margaritas
- 1 bottle Caribe Starfruit Limeade
- 2 shots white tequila
- 1 tsp honey for glass rims
- 2-3 tbsp sea salt for rims
- 1 Lime as garnish
- Lots of ice
- Coat glass rims with honey and dip into salt spread onto a plate.
- Mix juice and tequila and shake.
- Fill glasses with ice and pour cocktail over ice.
- Garnish with lime.
Now you just need some sunshine and a front porch for sittin!
Luis has offered to give away a 12 pack of juices to one lucky winner! Juice will ship on ice within the USA, excluding Hawaii and Alaska, unfortunately due to shipping costs. To enter, simply leave a comment (be sure to put your primary email in the email field so I can contact the winner!) with your favorite margarita flavor!
The winner is Rachel – comment at 8:03am! Congrats!

I am a sucker for a good cucumber jalapeno marg! And absolutely, white > yellow! Happy Friday!
Amanda Ellen French says
I looove a jalapeno margarita OR a mango/tropical margarita
These look amazing! I love me a mango margarita!
Yum! I love grapefruit or blood orange margaritas because the colors are so pretty.
my birthday is May the Forth be with You and i absolutely like to get cinco de mayo started early with a margarita. bring on the tequila!! my dad makes great margaritas with tequila (i’m with you on liking blanco tequila), St. Germain and fresh squeezed lime juice. they’re unbelievably good!
Haha happy birthday! And May the Fourth…. : )
I like it spicy so jalepeno margaritas are my favorite!
I love strawberry margs!
Lemon or grapefruit for me but I’m flexible though I don’t really like the rim of salt.
Maegan Clark says

My wedding anniversary is may 4th!
Will definitely have to have a margarita:)
The juices look amazing!
Probably traditional flavor, but open to try anything!
I love watermelon margs!
Heather Maw says
That looks so good! Is there a carb difference in the cane juice vs. Sugar?
I’d have to see the ingredients side by side, but I imagine that their actual sugar grams are comparable.
I am Kath’s intern and wife to Luis-Caribe’s owner. Just to follow up on your comment. Cane juice is 13% sugar and 17% carbs. It has some protein and a lot of vitamins and nutrients and also is about 80% water. Just wanted to follow up on your question as it should not be confused with sugar, cane sugar, etc. Kind of like an Apple Juice! Juice right from the stalk of the cane! Happy Friday!
I can’t seem to find the nutritional information on your product’s website. Do you post it anywhere?

Don’t think I’ve met a margarita I didn’t like! Last week I had some rhubarb syrup leftover from a cake I made for Easter and used that to make rhubarb margs! So good!
Rachel Schlosser says
I am always up for a good ole strawberry margarita.
This juice looks SO good! I think the best margarita I ever had was in Sedona, AZ and it was a prickly pear margarita with fresh pear! YUM!
Jalapeno margaritas are delicious. I will be alcohol free for the next several months so these juices would be nice to sip on!
I’m a regular margarita on the rocks with salt myself. The problem with margaritas is that I suck them down way too fast!
These margs looks delicious. But I’m even more interested in trying the juices. Sounds like a great company to support too.

i love starfruit and this drink looks amazing as well as refreshing.
LIME ON THE ROCKS!!! AND YES, WHITE > YELLOW! ARE THESE JUICES IN MN?
Kelli H says
Looks tasty! I’ve never heard anyone call it white or yellow tequila. I’ve only heard silver or gold. Haha I am a fan of both since I believe the gold is just aged in barrels. Do you like mezcal? I’m really liking mezcal lately. Happy cinco de Mayo! Hope you get to enjoy a tasty marg.
Hahah – well that just shows you how little tequila I drink!! : )
White tequila is called “Blanco” and not aged in barrels. Light gold is called “Reposado” and aged in oak less than 1 year (the most common tequila used in margaritas). And dark gold is “Anejo” and aged in oak 1-3 years (more of a sipping tequila).
I’m 34 weeks pregnant so a mocktail with the starfruit limeade sounds especially amazing.
Virgin margs were my drink all last summer! I tried so many kinds : )
What a great recipe!
watermelon or pineapple margaritas! Lots of salt!
I love a spicy margarita!!
I’m in Colorado and hoping that I can find this. I love a good margarita!
I love anything with fresh lime!
I looove strawberry margaritas but would be excited to try these more exotic flavors!
Yum! I love a homemade, traditional margarita.
The DR is my very favorite place!! I love a margarita that uses a spicy pepper-infused tequila, it’s the ultimate summer drink!
I absolutely LOVE margaritas—-traditional margaritas are great especially if they are super tart! I also like mango margaritas. Bring on summer!
I love passionfruit margaritas, although starfruit sounds delicious!
Does FROZEN count as a flavor? I have an ice cream machine that I put cocktails into on really hot days to turn them into slushies.
I’ve always wanted to try a green apple margarita. Doesn’t that sound amazing?? Thanks for sharing the recipe and a giveaway with us! 🙂
I agree 100% on the white Tequila > than yellow!
I’m open to any flavor marg, but it has to be on the rocks!
No such thing as a bad margarita in my opinion! My favorite is probably the traditional though – salted rim of course!
Jess Taverna says
“Yellow” tequila is aged, “white” is not. Many tequila drinkers prefer the aged because it is usually more complex and with deeper flavors. Similar to whiskey.
I’m a traditional margarita girl- on the rocks with salt! But I would love to make a watermelon one, too. Would love to try these!
Hillary Gras says
I’m with you – don’t miss the tequila as long as its tart w/ lots of salt!!! Jalapeno margaritas are the best
Oh my. This looks delicious and so refreshing for the summer! Honestly, I haven’t met a marg that I didn’t like. Ha.
Patty B. says
I’m with you, I like silver tequila over gold at all times, and ALL the lime!
Ooh, fresh lime with tajin seasoning!
Wish we could get those juices in CA looks amazing.

I’m with you on the tart margaritas. Yum! I love anything with lots of lime, but I also really like jalapeno margaritas. These juices look amazing!
I love jalapeno-lime margaritas. I tried a pineapple-jalapeno margarita on vacation and that was delicious also!
Emily Farrar says
I love either spicy or grapefruit! Margaritas are the best!
The juice and margarita look amazing. I don’t dribk cocktails often, but a margarita is usually my choice.
I do have a comment about your giveaway. I can’t tell if you mean to exclude Alaska, which is likely due to ship ping costs, but when you continental US you are including Alaska. We ate on the North American continent. The word you want is contiguous states, which includes the 48 states (and DC) which are adjoining. Alaska and Hawaii do not meet that criteria. I am just pointing this out so you don’t end up misleading people. We run into lots of mail and online vendors who don’t understand the difference. Many still think that Alaska is not a state! I’ve even been asked what currency we use.
I ‘m not complaining about your giveaway, just to do some education. I love your blog and read it regularly. I found you back when you were in school to be an RD.
I’m sorry Pat! I was just repeating the language I was sent, but I think they did mean to exclude Alaska and Hawaii due to shipping cost. I cannot believe anyone would think it’s not a state!?!?!? It’s a state that I have never visited and it’s on my bucket list for sure!
Prefer rum but would still be good with any of these juices!
Spicy margaritas are my favorite!
Those juices look amazing! I would love to try them. I like a “fire engine margarita” which is just a regular margarita with a sangria float. So good!
This sounds sooo good. I love passionfruit drinks!!
This looks so refreshing! I am a lime margarita fan.
I enjoy a fresh watermelon margarita (on the rocks, no salt)! I agree that blanco (white) tequilas are good in margs. The yellow/darker versions tend to be aged more. If I’m just having a shot I much prefer the resposado and anejo versions! Both are aged and have a much richer flavor than blanco tequilas!
any spicy margarita!!
Laura E Wolf says
Margaritas sound delightful for Cinco de Mayo! Looks extremely refreshing!

I love anything Mango but my favorite is just a plain simple regular margarita. But someone mentioned watermelon, I bet that’s great also. Watermelon is my favorite summer fruit.

Lime/traditional on the rocks with salt!
I love any margarita my husband makes at home- they’re his specialty! We always use fresh limes and blanco tequila, 100% pure agave. My husband’s birthday is this week and he’s the biggest Star Wars fan I know (well except perhaps our 6 yr old son) so we will be doing lots of celebrating! Can’t wait to try Luis’ juice line sometime?
Classic lime, but the passionfruit sounds amazing!
Leslie Welsh says
Spicy lime of course!
Classic lime w/gold tequila – over ice with salted rim…very basic and delicious
OMG I am so in! My moms family is from the Dominican, and I keep telling my husband and friends that they’ve never tried anything like their juices. I would LOVE to serve some Caribe cocktails and get everyone on Team DR!
I love prickly pear margaritas, without salt. They’re such a pretty pink color, and they taste amazing, too! I can’t wait to try these juices; hoping I can find them on the west coast. I love the DR and all the carribbean flavors 🙂
I will drink any margarita that is put in front of me, but my favorite style is on the rocks with a salted rim. Most interesting flavor I’ve had is tamarind!
Love lime or mango ? these sound amazing!
These juices sounds delicious! I would love to try them. Does he offer online ordering?
I loooove spicy jalapeño margaritas! So delish!

I love a nice sour marg. Would love to try that starfruit one!
My hubby and I are beer drinkers over anything with liquor, so I honestly don’t even know what flavors of margaritas one could have! But I’d sure like to try this juice–what an awesome backstory to his company as well!

I love a little kick of jalapeno!
