Smells Like Summer!

Freshly cut grass scents are wafting through my windows this morning. Yum yum!

Last night we debated going out to dinner, but Matt showed up with a bag of green beans and we pulled some fish out of the freezer. This one was worth staying home for!

Local trout with Dijon and panko // Dijon-honey green beans // sweet potato wedges

This morning M and I made smoothies together again. This one was strawberry banana.

And finally, another delicious summer smell for you!

KERF reader Karla makes natural soy wax candles in teacups and mason jars called Sweet Claire’s Candles. You know I have a thing for vintage blue jars, so I absolutely love this candle! The scent Karla sent to me – Sunshower – is divine.

Enter to win a candle in the Rafflecopter below and by leaving a comment telling how you’ll be celebrating summer this weekend!

And finally – if you have a free weekend next week and live near Cville (or feel like a road trip!) the Cured Bacon Festival is happening at the Pavilion on Saturday the 30th from 1-5pm. Bacon will come from The Rock Barn, a local butcher that believes in respecting the process from field to fork. Several chefs from Cville restaurants will be preparing small plates with bacon as the not-so-secret ingredient. Everyone gets to vote for their favorite dish, and proceeds benefit the Local Food Hub. Hope to see you there!

I’ve loved reading about how you and Mazen make smoothies together in the morning. My son is 18 months, and has such a sweet heart, but..please tell me it gets better! He talks a tiny bit, signs a ton, but often throws tantrums and is demanding. The thought of being able to have a morning to share in smoothie making sounds so far off! I’m just looking forward to us being able to communicate more and enjoy more things together.

More rainy weather here in Denver, but it’s ok, my younger 2 kids just came home from college and I’m loving having them home 🙂

I don’t feel like it could be summer yet–it’s only 67F today! But we’re celebrating anyway with a game afternoon with friends. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!

Graduation festivities for my little sister who just graduated high school! Fun weekend but it’s been rainy and cold almost everyday the whole month of May here in Colorado! Hoping for some sunshine and for the normal summer weather to make a comeback! 🙂

We’ll be celebrating by pulling out our outdoor furniture so we can eat, read, sip tea, write…..(I could go on!) outside. <3
