Sleep Surplus

I didn’t open my eyes until 9AM this morning!! Guess I was worn out from the trip. I can’t believe it’s already 11:00 and I’m just now blogging breakfast!! After all this traveling, I actually can’t wait to get into a routine again. But just a few days from now I head back out for the finale of the summer: The Healthy Living Summit!

I stumbled down to make a smoothie in a bowl – a new bowl, that is!! My mom’s neighbor’s daughter, Beth, made this beautiful bowl in school and her mom was going to give it away. My mom confiscated them knowing I love bowls. I am obsessed with its shape!! There are two other beautiful ones that I’ll debut this week.

Smoothie in a bowl contained:

  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 cup cherries, pitted
  • 1/2 cup 2% milk
  • Tbsp flax
  • Handful spinach
  • Nature’s Path granola
  • Hazelnut butter on a spoon

Matt told me on the phone he had a surprise for me last night. A “new flavor” he found at the grocery store. I hunted through the fridge and couldn’t figure out what he meant and finally asked what my surprise was. “The Stonyfield milk! I didn’t know they made milk!” He thought it was brand new, but I think the new label just jumped out at him.

I’ve got a long list of things to do these next few days – gotta get crackin’!

That bowl is so unique I love it! Glad your mom took them heheh. 🙂 Never tried cherries in a smoothie before but it looks really really tasty. All of the granola also looks delish! Have a great Sunday!

I think Stonyfield Farms milk is great. But yeah, slightly on the more expensive side.

And cherries in a smoothie? May just be something I need to try.

Organic milk isn’t expensive; regular milk is super cheap. You’re paying to support the organic industry.

I am a sucker for bowls too – I am always on the look out at garage sales and flea markets.

I didn’t know they made milk either! I’ll have to check it out.

Kath, I agree on supporting the organic industry when it comes to milk.

Um, am I the only one that’s been seeing weird glitches in Kath’s posts? For example, the second word in her breakfast post, which is supposed to be “didn’t” looks like this on my screen: didn’t

And that weird character TM thing pops up every couple of lines. It’s been happening ever since the server glitch.

Love the bowls … there’s a make-your-own pottery place near my house, and I keep meaning to go so I can make my own oatmeal bowl!

I have always been a Stonyfield fan, and can’t WAIT to meet Sarah at the Healthy Living Summit. Since seeing “Food, Inc.,” I’ve learned a lot more about Stonyfield, and think it’s so amazing that their CEO was ahead of his time in so many ways! We switched to Stonyfield yogurts, in part because we can buy them at Costco.

The bowl is lovely. I love that homemade ceramic look! Foods are just so much more fun to eat out of them, especially when those foods happen to be “smoothies” mmmmm.

Great new bowl – aren’t mother’s great?! I don’t think I’ve seen Stonyfield milk either, I’ll have to look for it. I can often get organic milk on mark down, it’s still weeks before the exp date – guess the store just needs to move it out.

    Happy Day at home!

Organic milk isn’t that much more, at least at my grocery store. I get Alpenrose (it’s a local dairy-about 2 miles from my house!), and normal milk is 2.09 for a half gallon, and the organic is 2.99. We go through the half gallon in a week or sometimes more, so it’s not that much more money out of our grocery budget.
Plus, the more people buy organic, the more the stores will carry it, and the better the prices get. Economy of scale.

I see your point on organic. I also think with that extra .99 I can buy two Lucerne yogurts or two bananas, 1 squash, etc. The more I save on groceries the more money I can use to do awesome, fun things in town

Sigh. The eternal organic vs. nonorganic debate. It’ll never end, huh? Anyways…I bet that smoothie took you FOREVER to finish with that little spoon! I eat my smoothies with a spoon…but it’s a big one so it’s gone in 2.5 seconds 🙂

LOL @ Stonyfield Farm milk being “new” — cute 🙂

I think their cartons are getting thinner though! Last month I bought a 1/2 gallon of their skim milk and it broke (somehow got punctured inside the shopping bag?!?!) on the way home! 😮 I <3 it though. I wanna LIVE on Stonyfield Farm haha.
