Revenge Of The Vegetables

They made their comeback!! Unfortunately this is the third-to-last of the mystery recipes, so I can’t let you know which vegetables we chowed down tonight. But this soup was fabulous, thanks to a secret ingredient 🙂

DSC03611

On the side I had a “hunk of crusty bread,” as the cookbooks always recommend with soup. This batch of sourdough was really good. I put a little SB on top.

I enjoyed a little break from studying (thanks to the husband for making dinner!!!) while watching Harry Potty IV over dinner.

A little while later I remembered the chocolates Jaclyn brought us!! Such a hard decision to choose a flavor…

So I decided to take a bite out of 4!

Turned into this!

 this !
I bet that makes some of you SO MAD! I’m definitely one who “allows” bites out of mixed boxes of chocolates. Thankfully the husband doesn’t seem to mind.

I’ve actually been really productive today. I’ve got one more thing to knock off and then I’m hopefully in bed by 9:30 so I can workout first thing in the AM. And I’m already excited about the lunch I have packed tomorrow!

Hee hee. I might do this if a box of chocolates were specifically mine. Otherwise, I’d cut them with a clean knife first.

Are these Nirvana chocolates? I wrote about them once when I was a food writer.

One of my favorite things is crusty bread. Great for dunking in sauces, soups and tomato sauce.

Let’s give credit where credit is due. What laid back mother taught her daughter that bites were acceptable. Me!

hahaha i used to take my finger and poke a hole in the bottom of the chocolates to “figure” out what flavor they were if i didnt have a guide. i was always looking for the coconut and caramel 😀

I would totally do that, and I’d be really annoyed if someone *else* did it to me.

Your friends and husband are so generous with their meals — you’re always offering each other bites and having tastes.

My boyfriend gets a fork near my plate, and he’s likely to lose a finger.

Bah! Kath, I would be so annoyed with the chocolate deal 🙂 Everyone is different I suppose.

This is why I can’t ever get married, these little things irk me so badly. Hello therapy! Haha.

you are much better than me-my mom and i call chocolates like that chew em up and spit em outs—we take a bit carefully never sure whats inside them but often don’t like whats in them and spit them out-but if we like we devour—(esp around valentines day)

Haha, love the chocolates! I’ll admit that I don’t like sharing…but I’m guilty of the worst – eating frosting off cake and leaving the naked cake!

That soup looks great, Kath. I’m so glad it’s time for fall cooking.

That is so funny, Kath. I love that you guys share stuff, I stink at sharing. When we were dating Dan and I would split a raspberry cobbler from Cracker Barrel and I would eat like a mad woman to be sure I got my half! Now after 14 years of marriage… I still love my man but no bites, sweetie! Your plate is your food and mine is mine. hehee

I want to know what is in that soup!! I forget, are these your recipes that are secret until you write your cookbook or are you reviewing someone else’s recipes for their cookbook or are you co-writing a cookbook?

I would definitely slice the chocolates with a knife especially because I hate the ones filled with raspberry or orange cream. I don’t think I would leave it 1/2 eaten – especially if it was filled with ganache 🙂 The “lovebugs” chocolate is soooo cute – seems like a nice selection in the box.

I can’t wait to see the mystery recipes either! I am guessing this one is butternut squash with maybe cinnamon?!

I LOVE BREAD! I am definitely going to have to try the husband’s recipes soon!

I think it is ok to take a bite and leave it as long as everyone else in the house (family) is in agreement. I think there would be nothing worse than going for a box of chocolates only to find a boxfull of bitten ones! Well, I am sure there are worse things, but I can’t think of any right now (=

Too funny with the chocolates. I don’t think my dear husband would mind either. Of course, I can’t imagine only taking one bite unless I didn’t like it!

    mom ,
Hilarious. You’re definitely where I get it from. Along with eating icing off of cake, and basically anything to do with a love for sugar.

    CourtneyS ,
I am totally an icing-a-holic as well 🙂

    Polly,
It’s a compilation cookbook with tons of recipes and I have developed 26 to go in it. So it’s not “my” cookbook at all! I’m sure my name will be in the credits somewhere though.

    MKM ,
    Key lime!

I’m all about taking little pieces or bites out of chocolates! That way you can try a bunch of different kinds without eating that many full pieces! mmmm chocolate…

Your mystery soup looks a lot like my ‘all that and the kitchen sink’ soup I made yesterday afteroon. There’s just something about Sunday afternoons and making soup.

Also, those chocolates look awesome. One of the NY area food bloggers (either cpbgallery or smittenkitchen) has featured them before, and they look just as delicious…even with bites taken out of them!

My mom and I do this thing that cracks everyone up. Everytime we get a box of chocolates the first thing we do is cut them all in half. Not only do you get to see whats inside but then yolu can have 4 pieces but you are really only eating two chocolates genius theres no better way to eat a box of chocolates. Its like getting double the chocolates!!
