Restaurant Rhino

Good morning!! We are well rested and full of coffee! I’m being a lot more conscious of caffeine and had half a cup of regular made in our room followed by about 3 cups of decaf at breakfast.

IMG_6674

We slept well, and woke up around 6:30am to open the balcony door for some fresh California air! It’s not too cold out there and feels great!

IMG_6675

And the morning gloom is just beginning to burn off.

IMG_6677

We walked through the hotel and downtown to find a good spot for breakfast.

IMG_6678

This hotel is so famous and cool!

IMG_6679

IMG_6680

We settled into a spot called The Rhinoceros CafƩ

IMG_6682

The decaf! The cafĆ© had excellent service – my mug was never empty.

IMG_6684

I had my favorite vacation breakfast: plain yogurt with granola and fruit.

IMG_6685

This granola tasted amazing! I couldn’t help to eat every last crumb because it was that delicious.

IMG_6688

So was the fruit! Love it when banana is included in a fruit bowl

IMG_6689

Karen got a fancy entrƩe of eggs with sausage, potatoes and a biscuit and shared a bite of her biscuit with me.

IMG_6686

And Matt had the yogurt + fruit bowl with a biscuit on the side – plus 5 cups of coffee and some of Karen’s dish.

IMG_6687

Delicious!

IMG_6683

We’re going to celebrate the day with a bike ride on the island, and Convention activities begin this evening. We’ve already ran into a handful of owners we know!

What a wonderful weekend. I will be dreaming about that place. I cannot wait until spring hits here in PA. I just want to go camping, sit by a fire and drink coffee while watching sun rise. Don’t need much from life, that is my heaven. Followed by me making an unbelievable vegan breakfast, of course!

Also, I can only imagine that if I couldn’t drink Caffeine, I would be all over that decaf coffee, too! Coffee is so warm and comforting. Have a great day with your family & riding bikes! How fun!

Sounds like the day is off to a good start. Glad you had great service and bottomless cups of coffee. The Hotel Del is beautiful and the day has gone from cloudy to sunny to sort of gray-ish but not awful…hopefully the weather holds up for you guys while you’re in town.

I’m totally fine with decaf- I just like a hot drink, period! I go in phases with caffeine, but can do without it just fine (and should probably do without it anyway!)
The breakfasts all look so wonderful! I have a typical “vacation breakfast” too- but it’s just toast with almond butter, honey and bananas (easy to make anywhere!).

My relatives used to run the Hotel Del and until a couple years ago we had a family cottage on the beach right next door — it was so simple and amazing and I’m so sad it’s gone! (replaced by hotel villas – boo). But of course Coronado runs deep in my soul and I just love every minute I spend there!!

I recommend the Brigantine fish tacos if you happen to end up there!
