Plate Me

I’m eating breakfast without my cronies today – guess everyone is too sleepy to come to breakfast!? You couldn’t PAY me to skip breakfast!!!

My company today is Jennifer of LJCFYI and Tricia of Cheeky Attitude. And they introduced me virtually to (Never Home) Maker – cute blog!

I started my day in a daze – too much food and wine – oof! Hoping to balance that out today with lots of fruits and vegetables 🙂

[HEY NYC: Anyone want to meet for a green juice and power walk around 5PM?]

I made some coffee in the room while I got dressed – I really like the Starbucks African blend that is often in hotels.

IMG_9472 (640x427) (2)

And arrived at breakfast. You can’t go wrong with lots and lots of choices.

IMG_9473 (640x427) (2)

Breakfast today was sponsored by Quaker…so I knew oats had to be involved

IMG_9475 (640x427) (2)

And there were many fun toppings [a preview of Quaker sponsorship of the Healthy Living Summit!!]

IMG_9474 (427x640)

Spotted: a new kind of muffin! I love muffins with crumbly tops

IMG_9476 (640x427) (2)

SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLAIN YOGURT!! I really don’t like flavored yogurts – except a select few. And when I have yogurt for breakfast with toppings, I love the contrast of tart plain vs. topping. But you never find plain yogurt in public.

Thank you BlogHer, Dannon and Hilton for the plain yogurt!!

IMG_9480 (640x427)

I combined two foods normally served in bowls onto a plate –

IMG_9497 (640x427) (2)

Plain yogurt in the middle, oatmeal and berries on the side, topped with pecans and cinnamon.

IMG_9490 (640x427) (2)

Love all the berries!!!

IMG_9484 (640x427)

I took about 1/3 of this raisin bran muffin and crumbled it on top –

IMG_9489 (640x427) (2)

And I hear honey is good for hangovers!?

IMG_9491 (640x427) (2)

IMG_9493 (640x427) (2)

IMG_9494 (640x427) (2)

The finished plate – it was awesome!!

IMG_9495 (640x427) (2)

Plus more coffee

IMG_9488 (640x427) (2)

Going to get a bit of work done this morning on my laptop and then hit the sessions

[Still love typing with orange nails!!]

Here’s hoping the honey did the trick 🙂 Happy Saturday, everyone!

total second! Back when I was struggling through an eating disorder I prided myself on never touching breakfast…now, seriously, one of my first thoughts in the morning is “what do I get to eat!?!” I skipped it one day because I was in such a rush that I had to choose between food and not wearing pajamas to work…I was a miserable, moody, unfocused mess!

If you’re looking for great green juice/smoothie options in NYC, there’s a wonderful place called “Liquiteria” in the East Village (I think of E13th and 1st Ave) that has a plethora of vitamin-packed, organic blends.
