Oh Deer

Foodblog (1 of 3) this !

It’s hard to believe it’s Friday already! Short weeks are the best, especially in the summertime. I can’t wait to see my little Cutie Bean again! Matt has been sending me snaps from the lake, and Mazen’s hair is a shade blonder.

The above pizzas are from Belmont Pizza here in Cville, and boy, are they good! I ordered these bad boys after a soccer game that was near my house, and hosted my team on the patio. Only a few teammates joined me, but it was still fun to hang out and talk about our game strategy. The top pizza is my favorite. It’s called the Rialto and has an olive oil and garlic base that is topped with sausage, feta, spinach, apples, and a sticky-sweet balsamic drizzle. So good!

Foodblog (1 of 1)

^^Spotted on a run, this deer nearly scared me to death! He wasn’t scared of me in the slightest and was about two feet away, right off the path. Creeper! Also seen on that run: another deer, the carcass of something that looked like a miniature horse (I am scared it was a dog) and a SNAKE. Ugh.

Foodblog (6 of 11)

^^I love that wine in a can is a thing now!! Especially now that I’m the only adult in the house, I don’t always want to have to open a whole bottle for myself. And boxes of wine, no matter how much I heart them, are downright dangerous. (“I’ll just have a little two-ounce glass!” – she said, 10 times.) So these single-serving cans are perrrrrrfect for me when I just want one glass of vino. I’m glad we have single serving options beyond the pink stuff in the mini bottle. Now, a warning: I tried the middle guy a few weeks ago and it was NOT ridiculous good wine, as it claims. First it was a bit effervescent, which was not what I was hoping to find as a red wine, but also it just tasted bad, almost like the cork had leaked, except there was no cork! Of the West Side flavors (which I found at Whole Foods), I liked the Chardonnay a lot (I’m not that picky about my Chards) but I haven’t had the Cab yet.

Messa

^^The above was dinner at Mezza, our new tapas restaurant on West Main St. Dinner was delicious, and the bread is fantastic! I loved everything we ate!

Macbook

^^I am obsessed with marble and love this Macbook skin! I’m debating whether to order it, and wondering how difficult the installation is. (I’d probably end up with bubbles and tears in mine!)

Foodblog (5 of 6)

^^Before.

Foodblog (1 of 1)-2

^^After. (Deer ate the bald spot in the middle!)

These PB&J Muffins.

10 Make Ahead Breakfasts.

These sunglasses.

Three Ingredient Creamsicle Smoothie.

Easy S’mores Dip!!

Sweet Potato Breakfast Bowl.

These flour sack towels from Target.

^^Link love!

0h my gosh there was a deer like that in Washington when we went to visit two weekends ago! Maybe they figured out how cute they are and that there are hunting laws? Smarter then we think?

Wow that pizza with apples sounds amazing! And I love the canned wine–I still haven’t seen any around here. Your garden looks so good. I wish I had a green thumb!

The top pizza looks and sounds incredible! I love the tapas (anytime I tell someone about a tapas bar, they think I’m saying “topless.” I get ridiculous looks.). I love your links at the bottom! I just bought two cute hand towels on clearance from Wal-Mart, and I believe they are the flour sack style. 🙂

Hi Kath! I have a similar laptop skin and application was quite easy! I was anticipating bubbles and needing to realign but it worked seamlessly the first try! Hope this helps.

Omg I would have freaked if I saw the deer, let alone the rest of what you saw!! Love that MacBook skin, too! I guess I’m always hesitant to buy one because I like how thin and light my MacBook is on its own. It’s really pretty, though!

Hey, Kath – a bunch of co-workers and I have a business trip in Philadelphia this weekend. Do you have any recs for must-try restaurants while we’re there? Stinks to work on the weekend, but I hope we can make the best of it! : ) Thanks in advance!!!

Hi there! I live in Philly. If you can get a reservation, you MUST go to Zahav. It’s incredible. If you can’t get in, try Amada or Barbuzzo.

Haha, okay, on the deer note … I live in a city in Canada, and we have a lake and huge park in the middle of the city (like Central Park but with a lake). The other day there was a moose wading in the water!?!? This is craziness! Haha, I think he might still be in there. Not sure how he made it there, without anyone spotting him walking down the streets, lol!

I see SO many deer out here in Colorado and get really close to them walking by (we’re talking 10 ft) and they just stare at me until I move along… They are very used to people around here!

If you type in Katheats.com and then the search term in google it should give you the same results until I’m able to get it fixed.

So jealous of your garden! Something ate all our lettuce when it just started to sprout. I’m thinking birds because they were picky and left the stems. Very sad to discover =( I read that sprinkling cayenne pepper can be a natural pest deterrent, so I’ll have to try that next year.

FYI- I have that laptop skin, or at least one like it…I bought this one specifically > https://www.gmyle.com/products/15mbpmpcs08bmar?gclid=CP62oNOl5c0CFQMHaQodwykHWA

It went on great! Easy installation, it is more a cover than a skin, so no bubbles. It also looks great and I get compliments on it ALL the time!

FYI-when looking at your blog from my iPhone, the ad placements make it really difficult to read when you describe the picture underneath. If you had your descriptions above the pictures it would be more seamless and easier to read. Almost every picture and description was Picture>Ad>Description. If you flipped that around, Description>Picture it appears that the ad would come after the picture. It would make it much easier to read. I have no clue what it looks like on an actual computer though!

Once I was on a walk with my yellow lab up at my parents house in their neighborhood. I saw a deer across the street and we stopped to stare at it for a couple minutes. We started to walk away and the deer started following us. It ended up following us even on to another street. I started to get freaked out so I started to run away and it literally chased me and my dog! I stopped and then it stopped. It was having a stare off with my dog about 2 feet away from us. Luckily a car came by, stopped to talk to us, and the deer eventually walked away. It was a trip!

I’m the only wine drinker in my house too and really love the barefoot white wine spritzer. I’m almost embarrassed to tell you that, but it’s so freaking good! I found them at Wegmans and love them. I also love the new hard seltzer water in the lime flavor. It’s delicious, and another great single serving option. Also found at Wegmans. I know there is no Wegmans in C-ville, but just pay a visit to NOVA, we’ll hit up a winery, and then go on a shopping excursion. 😉

How fun to see those things on your run! Except, not the snake! I saw a dead rat on my run last week and about jumped out of my skin…I don’t even want to think about what a snake would have made me do! Lets just say a curse word definitely would have been screamed!
