October Eve

Here begins Octoberfest, the month long celebration of my birthday!

IMG_5455 (640x427) (2)

We joined up with Faith + Tate

IMG_5443 (640x427) (2)

And Alex + Eric

IMG_5445 (640x427) (2)

For a trip to the Blue Mountain Brewery "Steal the Stein" day (if you buy a beer in a stein glass, you get to keep the glass!)

IMG_5429 (640x427) (2)

Totally gorgeous setting. One of the things I love most about Cville is that drive just FIVE MINUTES from the city limits and you’re in the most beautiful countryside you could imagine!

IMG_5433 (640x427) (2) IMG_5432 (640x427) (2)

IMG_5435 (640x427) (2)

We started with a taster (of course)

IMG_5436 (640x427) (2)

Mmmmm 6 little beers just for me!

IMG_5439 (640x427) (2)

I liked the Wheat, Octoberfest and Nelson but didn’t care for the rest too much

But they sure went down fast!

IMG_5449 (640x427)

IMG_5444 (640x427) (2)

We ordered giant pretzels with mustard for an appetizer

IMG_5446 (640x427) (2)

Little Finn LOVED the beer!! (Kidding….kidding..)

IMG_5456 (640x427) (2)

My six-pack taster went down so fast I ordered an Octoberfest [for the stein!!]

IMG_5454 (640x427) (2)

IMG_5450 (640x427) (2)

The brewery is also a restaurant, so we ordered some dinner.

Salads to start

IMG_5459 (640x427) (2)

And pizza to finish!

IMG_5463 (640x427)

IMG_5462 (640x427)

The veggie pizza with shrooms, squash, goat cheese and loads of cilantro. Tasted like my cilantro pesto!

IMG_5467 (640x427)

I think I had three of these!?

IMG_5465 (640x427) (2)

We concluded the evening with a blind tasting. The 6 tasters. 3 drinkers. One guess. Faith was the moderator!

IMG_5440 (640x427) (2)

Matt and I thought we were head on, but turns out Tate killed us!! I swear I had them right!!

IMG_5468 (640x427) (2)

‘Twas a fun night. Except for the fact that I had to call for Matt to confiscate my lantern full of Biscoff cookies because I already had 3 packets for dessert!!

Tomorrow starts bright an early with a huge fitness venture. My post might be delayed, but it’s for a fun reason!

What a fun night! Someone would have had to carry me out of there after that beer – one glass and I’m done for. Seriously – it’s sad.

Oooh Blue Mountain, another of my all-time favorite Cville places! I went on my last weekend in town. Don’t know if you saw, but you can get a tour on Saturdays and talk to the brewer- I bet he and Matt would love talking beer together, he started as a home brewer and is friends with alllll the people at the other Cville microbreweries. He’s a cool guy, and it’s a cool tour- even though it’s just one room.
