Nocturnal Chirps

IMG_8997

Something is chirping all night in my house! It’s not a bird, or a plane..

IMG_8995

…it’s a smoke alarm!

And it seems to only do this at night so I can’t figure out where it’s coming from. I might just have to disable them all.

IMG_8993

I came down feeling stiff, achy and hungry this morning and didn’t feel like taking much time to make a breakfast. Cereal came to mind, especially since I just bought a new kind with a coupon Miss Healthy Apple sent to me! I also am in love with the Organic Valley drinkable yogurt! Makes such a fun base for cereal.

IMG_8986

IMG_8998

My bowl included ~ 1 cup of Heritage cereal, ~1/3 a cup of granola, ~a cup of yogurt, half a pear, half a banana, a handful of blackberries and a drizzle of TJs sunflower buttah.

IMG_8991

My aches have gone away after breakfast. I wonder if I drank too much coffee on my trip and am having mild caffeine withdrawal. It wouldn’t surprise me because it’s happened before..

    Hope you feel better! 🙂

Ah smoke alarms are the most irritating things EVER when they’re low on battery. At least you know you’re safe, though, after you find the culprit and chance it’s batteries 😉

    Enjoy your morning! Chirp chirp.

Ooh, a sale! I actually clicked over to the comments to specifically to see if anyone else was drooling over these mugs. 😉 How will you be notifying people of the sale? Or do we just need to remember to click over and look?

It’s definitely your smoke alarm. We have the ones that are wired in, but also have battery backups and they always chirp when they are low on battery. And it’s ALWAYS at night! Very annoying! Looking forward to your house posts.

Yep, you’re low on battery! Replace them all at once – otherwise another one might keep you up at night – I know from experience 🙂

The chirping is the worst. It drives our dog crazy. I know we’re bad, but we have so many we just ended up pulling all the batteries.

I get that way with coffee too sometimes and then have to back off. It is just so warm and creamy and smooth…what’s not to love. The colder months definitely call for it, but then the craving start. Have a great day Kath!

Promise us you won’t DISABLE your smoke detectors… just replace the batteries. Disabling them is a) unsafe and b) could have a very negative impact on your renters/homeowners insurance.

I completely agree with this! We should all replace the batteries regularly anyway, and it seems you guys have been in the house long enough to do it now, so just replace them all. No need to locate the particular offender.

No of course not!!! Just until I can get a new battery. Plus we have about 10 others in the house in addition to the one that’s chirping. I’m a huge believer in safety!

Ha ha ha, I hate that too. Chasing after the chirp, going from room to room, in silence, and waiting to see if the chirp is from that room or not. I usually just leave it up to my husband as he is much better at detecting them than I!

You would think that with all our technology they would set them up to say “low battery.” Instead, there’s a chirping that is annoying to no end! Maybe it’s the company’s way of forcing us to change them? haha

I wouldn't recommend disabling the smoke detectors. 🙂 The chirping is because the 9V battery in the alarm is low. It is letting you know so you have time to replace it before it goes out. Mine do the same thing and it is really annoying, but tis best (and safest) to follow the chirp and replace the battery.
