Nocturnal

Guess who stayed up to complete another late night assignment!!!! ME!

The reason I get so excited about this is I have NEVER been one to work late at night. I’ve never pulled an all-nighter (ever) and really have never needed to because I always do my work early and save the time most people use to procrastinate to play. So lately since I haven’t had to get up early for class, I’ve been seeing the 8-11PM  hours as prime working time. And the thought of waking up the next morning without any weights on my shoulders is pure bliss.

Today I just have one small thing to complete and I am REALLY going to take the weekend off! All that lies between me and my R.D. verification statement:

  • Finish this Community take-home test
  • 2 big research papers (should take me 2-3 days each)
  • 3 short no-biggie presentations
  • 1 reflective writing exam
  • 3 final exams

Can’t you believe it!?

My goal is to have everything but the finals done by Thanksgiving so I can take that whole week off to play with my family. I CAN DO IT!

Going to bed at 12:30 meant sleeping until 8:30! My body loves 8 hours, although I was having crazy dreams when I woke up!

I decided I didn’t want to feel too full for 11AM exercise, so I went with yogurt for breakfast

IMG_8639 (640x427)

  • ~1/2 a cup TJ’s greek yogurt
  • ~1/3 cup Kashi GoLean Crunch
  • 1 tbsp Fortnum and Mason Raspberry preserves
  • 1 giant banana
  • Packet of Barney Butter, warmed up in my hands for 5 whole minutes to make it squeezable

IMG_8644 (640x427)

In a fun Cali bowl!

IMG_8645 (640x427)

Picked up some of this tea from the Hotel Vitale in SF!

IMG_8634 (640x427)

Hoping Earl Grey is enough caffeine for my shoulders!

IMG_8641 (640x427)

THE SUN IS OUT! Can you see it peeking!?

IMG_8638 (640x427)

I am actually really sore from yoga yesterday! I think I tore open my shoulders 😉 Planning a visit to the gym on my bike once I finish this test. So glad it’s not raining!!

Hoooray for getting your work done! I am such a procrastinator. I have a huge sanskrit test in my yoga teacher training tomorrow and plan to cram for it tonight. Sigh.

Have you ever read eat that frog? Well, I think it describes you perfectly. It’s about getting your work done, starting the highest priority, and not procrastinating. It helped me a lot, but I don’t think you need it – you already do what it advises! For anybody else who procrastinates though, I think it’s a great book.

Being productive at night can feel so good! I’ve been staying in the office pretty late this week (~8-9pm) and have found that I can get a lot more done without the phones ringing and the distraction of chatty co-workers. I just have to plan ahead and bring snacks for energy 🙂

I was totally the same way when I was in school. I hate feeling overwhelmed, so I would break everything up into manageable chunks and just do a little each day. It’s really the most efficient way to get things done.

I love how you set the table with the placemat and napkin. I bet that helps you really focus on the meal and what it’s doing for your body. Not to mention, it looks great! Doing something simple, like decorating the table, really helps to keep my kitchen inviting so I’m willing to cook more instead of eating take out all the time.

Wow, the home stretch, that is so awesome! I have been working toward a degree in public health off and on for a while now (it’s my second, my interests shifted after college the first time) and when I think I’m too old to start over (I’m only 27) or it’s not worth it, I think of you 🙂

I’ve had weird dreams lately, too. I’m attributing mine to my alarm going off at 4:30 a.m. in the middle of the dreams I wouldn’t usually remember when I get up at my usual time!

Good for you getting your work done ahead of time!! I was always one of the procrastinators in college, so I was always up late working on assignments. These days, my brain turns OFF around 8 p.m. If I do try to do brain work in the evening I end up not being able to sleep because I have too many thoughts running around in my head. Good luck getting the rest of your assignments done! My goal to make my holidays enjoyable is to have all my Christmas shopping done before Thanksgiving!
