When I first saw the picture of Nuttzo PF, I thought “What a great idea!” The jar is upside down, so the oil will settle at the opposite end from the opening, making it much easier to spread. Am I observant and smart, or what?

But, heck, in reality only the label is upside down. I could accomplish the same thing with any nut butter by just turning the jar upside down. I should have thought of that before. Am I stupid, or what?

I think the OIAJ’s I’ve seen are so pretty. I like my oatmeal much thicker, so I don’t think it’d look for nice in a jar. Because it would be so far down at the bottom of the jar. I don’t even know how I’d get to it! lol

    Kath,
I have really enjoyed your blog, and have been struggling with losing the weight that I have gained the past 2 years. I am very short 4′ 11″ and am exercising alot, about 1 1/2 hours of walking and 20min. of strength training a day. Sometimes I even go on the trampoline for 20min. I am being really strict on my diet and eat 3 meals a day about 200cal. in the morning, 150cal. at lunch and 200-300 cal at dinner. All healthy meals, grains, veggies, fruit and protein. Yes, I know its most likely that I am not getting enough food, but how can I risk eating more when I just might gain more weight? I am getting really depressed and ready to give up. Please help!

If you could email that would be great!

        Hannah,
“Depressed and ready to give up”… this is a great first step to turning it around–communicate it–find a support system–someone you can talk to, but whatever you do, don’t give up. NEXT–this depressed ‘feeling’ might turn around with proper nutrition (which you are clearly not getting). Believe it or not, food does impact mood, and weight loss cannot occur long term without sufficient calories. GOTO– nutrition.gov for a good reliable source of recommended healthy caloric intake and suggestions. Simple rule of thumb to help mood if nothing else: avoid bad fats, caffeine, alcohol, refined sugars, pesticides and hormones (do use organic to avoid this), dyes, monosodium gludimite (sp?), hydrogenated fat (sp?), transfats (but make sure it has not been made up with saturated fat (best to try to avoid processed foods–at least until mood stabilizes). Look for to positively consume in healthy combinations and quantities to help stabilize mood and depression (suggestions, but not limited to): Lean means rich in omega 3s, green leafy vegetables (plus a variety of other fresh organic fruits and veggies) complex carbs (similar to Mediteranean ways), organic products, OK to snack on Nuts, whole grain chips, dark chocolate. Even if you did no exercise, 550 calories per day clearly is not enough for any human being to survive on. If you really feel you are ‘ready to give up’, please call 911.

… Oh, not ‘lean means’, but lean meats (if you are not a vegan), but then you would already know the alternatives. Also, great choices are displayed on Kaths Blog — every post! It would be a really great idea to visit your doctor, be honest, heed advice–you could even have a medical reason–they will check your thyroid too. Good luck and I am sure as long as you are aware, reach out and work on it, things will fall into place for you in every area.

You’re welcome. It would be nice to get an update (say the end of the summer) on your progress (because I am sure it will be progress!) I’m not sure if it helps any, but you are not all alone with weight issues and people do care. Unfortunately, many individuals struggle in some form or another… maybe if more people follow Kath, they can make progress and feel better. All the best… till next time.
